Well done, Hayley.
At this rate you'll be fighting over pride of place position on the mantlepiece ! And extra dusting will be necessary, methinks ! ;D

Well done my darling, i`m very proud of you. You played some excellent billiards on tricky tables and thoroughly deserved the win.
Well done to Lord Cheeky for defending his plate title and to all the other winners.

Hahaha ;D Could have a 'garage' sale whilst Kev's at work. He'd never know - and there would be far less to polish! ;)

It was indeed a good weekend, and I must add my congrats to Hayley. We have had a dearth of lady entrants during the past few years and took the decision a while back to enter all those brave souls who agreed to partner the chaps in mixed doubles, into the ladies singles. This has obviously increased the number of entrants, and has also had the knock on effect of increasing the number of lady players in the league - whether regular or occasional players, meaning that the tournament is of a higher standard year on year.
The outcome this year (for the first time ever I believe) is that we had a ladies final between two players who are not currently active within our league. This coincidence is, by the way, secondary to the fact that both are called Hayley; which I find far, far more ifascinating. LadyH's opponent had previously played league BB, and had ben most consistent lady player on one occasion. Her father introduced her to the game at the age of 14 or so, though she has not played for a while now.
I believe that our KO weekend is a pretty unique event in the BB world; being held from Friday evening to Sunday evening, with competitions for players of all ages and standards. It is held at a venue that is adjacent to a caravan site, and believe me; some of us will be meeting later this week to organise accommodation for next year's event!
Seven tables on the go for some 25 hours worth of matches on each, best of three in all cases, it does take some organising - especially if clashes occur when we reach the latter stages of the main competitions. People like Alan Shaw are a veritable pain in the jacksie! He reached four finals all due to be played on Sunday evening you see. If I had MY way, he'd be forced to play two at a time, that way, the after-event-party could start at a reasonable hour ;)
That said, it is great fun, and is one of just two occasions during the year when all players in the league have the opportunity to get together socially for a jar, a game or several and a chin-wag.
The W Sx League has long prided itself upon being friendly, relaxed (though competitive) and an excuse for a darn good night out of a Wednesday through the season. I've been a part of it for some 25 years now, and the fascination for the game and the people has yet to wane.
Incidentally, being new here, but known to some of you; should you need to know who Honchair is, take a look at the results list from the weekend.
Apparently I belong in the Middle Ages! ;) :D
Tally ho!

Sounds like a great weekend but a nightmare for the organisers, long may it continue. Ian.
