I really enjoyed Rush. Saw it last week the 2 lead characters that play James Hunt and Nikki Lauda were brilliant, the action shots were a mix of historic F1 replica's & original footage. It really took you to the heart of the epic season & title chase.
Even if your not into F1 it is a must see

Yeah, big Western fan too, endorsing all on Gandalf's list, and offering additions The Magnificent Seven, Rooster Cogburn, The Outlaw Josie Wales, High Noon, Gunfight At The OK Corrall.......
My best 10 films choice, in chronological order:
Irma La Douce (1963) - Yves Montand tries to reform Shirley MacLaine who is a prossie ! The Quiller Memorandum (1966) - George Segal goes through the mill as an English spy in Berlin. The Italian Job (1969) - The Michael Caine original of course, with surprise cameos from Noel Coward and Benny Hill. Straw Dogs (1971) - Dustin Hoffman, an American professor, gets his revenge on three Herberts who are terrorising him and his wife (Susan George) in a Cornish farmhouse. Tess (1979) - Faithful to the Thomas Hardy classic novel, starring the beautiful Natassja Kinski. Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom (1984) - My pick of the Harrison Ford adventure films (all good). Return Of The Native (1994) - This was only a TV film release but stars the beautiful Catherine Zeta Jones. The book is the saddest I've ever read. The Ninth Gate (1994) - Johnny Depp with an unlimited financial backing tracks down a rare book and gets dragged into the world of the occult. The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) - Tommo enters the 21st century ! The special effects on this are absolutely stunning. Angels and Demons (2009) - Tom Hanks at his best in his second appearance as Robert Langdon. The third (Inferno) is entering Production as we speak.

Margo and I went to see Jersey Boys tonight ( = biopic of the Four Seasons) at Horsham's Capitol cinema. Excellent entertainment, it's good when you're familiar with every single song.
Christopher Walken played a rather benign Godfather. Spent a long time racking my brain as to whom the actor playing Frankie Valli reminded me of: then it came to me ....... Shakin' Stevens !

Margo and I went to see the new Far From The Madding Crowd today. No special effects, no car chases, just a good old tale from 1871 set in the beautiful Hardy's Wessex (= Dorset).
I expected to be disappointed, fearing it would not match up to the 1967 original with Julie Christie, Alan Bates, Peter Finch and Terence Stamp. (Re-hashes of The Italian Job and Alfie for example have been panned by the critics).
However I found the film absolutely moving and stunning and Carey Mulligan carried off the lead role of Bathsheba with great aplomb. The storyline stayed reasonably faithful to the novel whilst somehow managing to be more atmospheric than the original film. Recommended !
