Correct, Ian. Andy Powell's is the official one which has kept going for a number of years. He of the bald head and the v- shaped guitar. Saw them at Burgess Hill the year before last and who should be there also but Dave Jones (not with his Christmas pud hat on though.) ;D Martin Turner started up 'Martin Turner's Wishbone' a couple of years ago but now appears to have equal rights to the name. My brother and I went to see him at the same venue we're going to tonight, and he stood on stage with his huge bass guitar, flanked by two new virtuoso lead guitarists. Tonight will be slightly different as the playlist is the whole of their classic album Argus. Last time Martin's teenage daughter was lead singer with the support act. The Boom Boom club is a good venue (it's Sutton Football Club's clubhouse) so you can have a good drink while you're there, and the tickets don't cost the earth.
Quite looking forward to it. 8-)

T Rex = Glam Rock which included Gary Glitter. PAP. >:( Prog Rock = Progressive Rock = King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Van der Graaf Generator, Emerson Lake and Palmer to name but a few. 8-) Yeah, I know the error of my ways but I needed a bit of poetic licence to get my point across, but our "dinosaur" discussion was a little closer to the subject of the thread than yours, with all due respect. BTW, what does PAP stand for? Past And Present? Back on subject, did you see Keeley Phwoars on Rossy last night, and do you agree that she is a little more "Phwoar" in her 80s guise than she is now. Maybe that shows my age rather than anything else!

but our "dinosaur" discussion was a little closer to the subject of the thread than yours, with all due respect. Yes, I must admit the T Rex=dinosaur comment was quite good. And to remain off topic, I didn't enjoy the W Ash gig last night as the acoustics were terrible. This time about 500 people were crammed in. We arrived early enough to get a table, but were positioned too close to a speaker, so the sound was distorted. And why does it always have to be so friggin' loud ? Imagine listening to music which you have loved for 30 years played at full volume and more. >:( Margo had the right idea - how I envied her her earplugs ! ::) Back on subject, did you see Keeley Phwoars on Rossy last night, and do you agree that she is a little more "Phwoar" in her 80s guise than she is now. Maybe that shows my age rather than anything else! Def. with you on that one, Keeley Hawes has the best pair of legs since Jamie Lee Curtis. 8-)

Add my vote for the 80s version too! Only just caught the end of her bit on J. Ross last night - wasn't the poo lady weird!!!
(Shame about the W. Ash concert - I've seen them a few times and I have to say one in three was not that great, even in the seventies. The other two were always worth the risk though)

Amazon have the complete series for £25 and in the 'New and Used' bit on Amazon its from £16. Not sure you will have to check where some of these come from i.e. the first one is the Netherlands and so may not play on UK DVD's (Lord Cheeky knows about this so could enlighten you!). Of course the 'Used' bit worries me :-/ used for what?!?! Lets hope its just viewing and not as coasters or something ;D H

I'm finding the repeats of the very early Steptoe and Son that are being repeated on BBC4 compulsive viewing.
In fact, that's where I'm off to now. ;)

In fact, that's where I'm off to now. ;) You may have spotted it Tommo, but I think these repeats are to intice you into watching a news series called "The Curse of Steptoe and Son". It is a docu-drama looking at the relationship between Corbett and Bramble. Looks interesting, starts Wednesday I think. Here is a review forums.digiguide.com/topic.asp?id=24104&subject=The+Curse+of+Steptoe+and+Son+on+BBC+4

Did you know old man Steptoe (Bramble) was a homosexual. In the early 60's it was against the law if found out he would have been arrested. Bit different to today,

Thanks for that Nigel, I'll have to set the DVD recorder to capture that one. Pete - yes many of the most talented people in showbiz were/are gay. Some of the ones you'd least expect (eg Patrick MacNee of the Avengers; Raymond Burr etc who played macho parts).
Interesting point that I picked up from Nigel's article: Wilfred and Harry H didn't get on: One pairing about whom I found that fact rather strange was MacMillan And Wife (Rock Hudson and Susan St James) who apparently couldn't stand each other either - but maybe his homosexuality had something to do with it.

When I was a small child, the word 'gay' had quite an innocent meaning: in later life it was like discovering there was no tooth fairy to find that for example George Melly's flamboyant appearance was not just a mark of his joie de vivre but had more sinister connotations ! :o

Has everyone heard about the follow-up to Ashes to Ashes which ends next week?
Gene Hunt will only have a minor role, but the stars will be his brothers Mike and Izaac.
Heaven knows what they will dare to call the programme.......

Going by the the 8 year gap 73-81, and you are allowed a year lee-way (Ashes to Ashes was from 80), the only possible title would be "Fame 90" - doesn't quite have the same ring to it. If they set it in 1987 "Time Will Crawl" would do though.
