There are 3 (Yes 3!) pubs in Norwich which are actively looking to buy 4-Pin tables so they can join our league, so if you know, or anyone knows of any decent tables going cheap, then if you could please let me know, it would be a great help to us. Hi Carl, Undoubtedly the most reliable method of acquiring a table would be through tracking eBay for a selected period. We on the Forum are willing and able to assist by providing a few pointers, but this service is for our members only, and you as a member have access to this via 'Club Class Lounge'. You will see that I have put one up there today with my initial assessment. You don't have to take my word for it, of course, the 'Gospel according to Sav' (the Forum Owner) being the ultimate fount of knowledge as he can spot a wobbly leg or botched refurbishment a mile off ! ;D

Just to add, Carl, when you say 'looking to buy 4-Pin tables' I am wondering now whether your League has specified a restriction to certain makes of table: the one I encountered in the Rosary Tavern, and the King's Head table (pictured below) are both Padmores - an ancient make very rare and seemingly exclusive to East Anglia: However the one in The Cottage which you showed us is a SAMs table - more widespread. On the Forum we have been advising against buying 'Narrow' tables, purely and simply because they render it difficult to play our '3-Pin' game on (we use the width, whereas '4-Pin' is about pushing down the table). But as far as we can make out, there's no reason why 4-Pin can't be played on a 3-Pin table - just add the extra pin! I am intrigued to see which way the Norwich Bar Billiards League will go. It has been fantastic to see it start up from nothing, a child of the 21st century! And talk now of further expansion - providing the extra tables can be found. Are your ambitions just to match Sudbury (4-pin) on an equal footing - or would you ever consider a switch over to the 3-Pin game played by 9 counties in England plus the 2 main Channel Islands ? By using a selection of different table makes you would at least be leaving your options open! :-/

Hi Tommo,
Thanks for your valued advice! Its very much appreciated and its great to keep our guys informed with the goings on.
Our league hasn't specified any kind of table really, any would be great, so long as we can play 4-Pin on them. Like I say, altogether there are 4 tables in our pubs which seem to all be different to each other, I think we've got 2 long and 2 short. Ill have to put some photos up at a later date.
I have discussed with everyone in the league about the prospect of going to 3-Pin but 100% of everyone said a big fat no. Mainly due to the way 3-Pin can be easily won or lost from the first break, after playing 3-Pin on our table one night, we found the 4-Pin game a much more of a strategic and fun game to play. I must say, I am in no way trying to put 3-Pin game down in any way, just the general opinion that we found.
Anyway, Ill have a look in the club class lounge to see what we can do!
Many Thanks again
Best Regards
Carl

Anyway, Ill have a look in the club class lounge to see what we can do! Hi Carl, There's an absolute peach of a table on eBay at present (just been put up). Looks well looked after and ticks all the boxes. And it's in Norwich ! Would grace the Leopard Inn - or any of the other pubs looking for a table. ;) 8-) Details in Club Class Lounge. Best of luck, tommo
