Dear All Eric has asked me to put this out early with updated costs. Can I please ask that if you have any queries relating to the Bournemouth Pairs that you contact Eric direct on his mobile or home phone as he rarely uses the forum. Sav would you kindly upload the form to the appropriate place leaving a link on this thread. Many thanks Chris Attachments:

Dear Keith
I have just spoken to Eric on his mobile 07593253792 which he is still available on.
The other number will be available from the 26th January. I assume it is a Skype number.
Hope that helps Chris

If you inserted "impossible" in place of "very difficult" I would agree with that statement entirely.... ::) I seem to remember that we had the same problem last year with Eric having "no internet" at the same time.... :o Eric phoned us last night to ask who Pauline was partnering!! His computer has been down for the last week, so will not have seen anything on here in that time and until he's back online again. One of the members of the group that we came down with then found that they had not been entered into the draw and therefore didn't play in the Tournament.... they had a nice relaxing time down in Bournemouth but that wasn't why they had paid the AEBBA over £100 to come down for the weekend. >:( Let's hope that the same situation does not repeat itself this time.... :-X

Had a phone call from Eric few days ago asking where our entry form was so I know he's chasing round. Not going this year so that was why he hadn't received our form

Well, it's now 5 days past the closing date for this competition.... which is one of the "flagship events" of the AEBBA season.... but I still don't know if our entries have been received. :o The telephone numbers shown on the Entry Forms and on this thread are different to each other and I have been unable to contact the organiser..... ::) >:(
Surely, this should be an event that should be publicised and promoted on the Forum to try and encourage more people to enter, with information on entries and updates made available to players on a regular basis..... :-/
Despite previous requests for information, nothing has been forthcoming.... so please could somebody find out how many entries have been received and when the draw will be made.... ???
Obviously, it would be nice to find out what the draw actually is once it has been carried out.... we can play Tipsters then.... ;D ....(oh, and maybe find out if our entries were received as well... :P) ....so hopefully somebody who has access to the Forum will be given a copy to put on here. ???
I'm sorry to moan on about this, but I really can't see any reason why we all seem to be kept in the dark in today's world where communication is so easy..... :-/

well dave all the people that have sent off cheques should go in the comp i suppose we could start a thread to see who sent and says they sent Unfortunately, that didn't prove to be the case last year for a member of our party who had paid AEBBA and had a place at the hotel.... but not in the draw. >:( :-X Since a lot of people who normally play at Bournemouth are not users of the Forum, I think that any list we try to start would likely to be missing a lot of entries, so I feel that could be a wasted effort. :-/ I will just have to try to be patient and wait and see what develops.... but after our experience last year I hope that everybody understands why I am finding that hard to do. ::)

Lin spoke to Eric 2hrs ago and he said he will be at the Oxfordshire Open on Saturday.
This is usually when he makes the draw, so It's best to ask him who has entered before he does the draw.
It's certainly not the ideal situation, is it ?

Regardless of the comments on the thread which I DO NOT IN ANY WAY wish to be involved in at all..
I am taking Eric up to the Oxford Open. He is doing the draw there which I will type up and pass to Nigel to sort times and tables, which I hope Nigel is willing and able to do.
I am willing to support this event totally now and in the future and do more if required.

One last point as my brain fails me nowadays ...
I sorted the form for Eric and it is my fault that the closing date was not the date of the Oxford Open, which it should have been....
So maybe half of this thread would not have happened.
I got the date wrong, as Eric asked me to set up the form many months ago and I went for the weekend before as the closing date, in guessing the date of the Oxford Open based on last years. I got it wrong.
My apologies Chris

Unbelieveable start to the day, we arrived in the room to find that some "joker" had decided to remove all of the pegs from the tables!
A few of them have been found (hidden around the hotel) and luckily Dave Alder had some spare sets, but still having to start the tournament unable to use 2 tables.
Hopefully the CCTV will be able to identify the people responsible.

How appaulingly stupid!! Let's just hope it was not one of the players.
I'm assuming Portsmouth pubs are a lot nearer than Deal if things are desparate and the schedule is being held up.

Sav Sir KT and Lady H rescued the situation by getting some pegs rushed over from Worthing, the missing pegs turned up later in the day (hidden away in a store room) and we still await the outcome of the CCTV footage.

Update from the final....
Phil + Leon led 2-1 after superb pay out of 20,240 by Phil in 3rd game.
Tony Willis was set a target of just under 17k in last game to win match, he was on track to catch this before coming off on 8k.
Jon Bamsey first to get the break back but pushed th one up just behind when up to 3k, Phil finished the game off.
Congratulations to Phil + Leon on their victory, commiserations to Tony + Jon but thanks to them all for a great final!
Also many thanks to Dave Alder and everybody involved with the running of the competition and the Queens Hotel for their usual great hospitality.
Over £600 raised in the raffle over the weekend.
A brilliant weekend

May I also convey my thanks to everyone involved in a fantastic weekend and my first bournemouth, especially Dave Alder on the admin desk, although he loses brownie points for knocking us out of the competition on the first day!
A great weekend in very good company!

Thanks to all for a smashing weekend again and for arranging such beautiful weather! One or two problems along the way ;D but again Eric, Dave, Phil, Mark, Terry, Dennis and the chap on the Admin Desk whose name I keep forgetting, did a fantastic job in keeping things running under very difficult circumstances. I hope that when the CCTV footage is reviewed thoroughly that the idiots can be identified and suitably chastised... ::)
Jon and I were very pleased to get to the final again and although a little disappointed not to win, heartily congratulate Phil and Leon on their great win. I really enjoyed the Sunday's billiards although ten games on the trot is getting a bit tiring these days.....
Thanks again everyone - it was really appreciated. Sorry I couldn't help with the tables at the end but after falling down the front steps of the hotel on Friday night and landing like a sack of spuds (completely sober I might add) I was a bit stiff and sore...

It must have been something in the water Tony.... or a curse affecting those born on 16th June.... as I also managed to fall down the stairs going down to the toilets at the back of the hotel! :o As it was Saturday morning, I think I was (probably) sober at the time.... although after Friday night I am not entirely sure.... ::) :-[ ;D It would be good if the CCTV footage can identify those responsible for the strange incident of the missing pegs.... and hopefully show that it wasn't anybody associated with the Competition. >:(
