Good stuff, I look forward to having another team in Westfield at The Plough and hope they enjoy playing in our league as much as their other leagues. Nine teams is great news for our league and great to be able to see some new faces joining the league. Do we know who's playing for The Anchor?

Ash a 3 ash b 2
Another enjoyable evening in the newly decorated ashburnham, wins for me and the old man and mick caister, Dave white and Bob osborne could be a close second leg depending on the draw but with a 9k deficit we have a hard task ahead of us!
And for the record Colin, dad managed a 5.9k break...3k breaks obviously don't count in this competition ;D

PS does 6k equal double bubble? ::) regs cs

I will continue to post scores and the old man's 3k breaks ;D
I played at the anchor a month back it was ok, massive left hand role past the pegs, but break and one up where easy (even I got it ;) )
The fountain are offering friendlies and played the anchor on Wednesday, I'm sure if you ask Bob he can give you contact details to arrange a friendly
And no they scrapped that double bubble format when Sean Taylor got 52 2k breaks in a season!

Have fond memories of playing Interleague there, as this scorecard from 30 years ago witnesses:
Match 4 (played at the Fountain, St Leonards, 8.11.1980) Player Score Player Score D.Field 7,180 Jim Morley 1,770 Bob Osbourne 8,380 Alan Sherlock 800 Don Climpson 750 Tony Franks 9,910 Colin Campbell 2,330 Clive Thompson 11,060 A.Yorath 4,780 John Slee 5,200 S.Curd 8,240 Gerry McCarthy 4,630 R.Ransom 7,830 Mick Holmwood 2,820 Hastings 4 Horsham A 3
Bob Osbourne was good - even in those days ! [edit - think I may have got the wrong Fountain - whoops!]

You just wanted an excuse to show off your 11k score Clive ;) It demonstrates my game has had very little improvement over 30 years, Q ....hence the plans to retire gracefully "whilst still some dignity left". :-/ Back on topic............. Just had a look for 'my' Fountain (the St Leonards one) on Streetview. Remembered it as within walking distance of the Marina Hotel. The whole area now looks derelict. :'(

Unfortunately your right not a lot round that way now. The Fountain in St.Leonards used to be in the league but have disappeared like so many pubs years ago. I cant remember the last time they had a team. I think it must have been just before I started playing in the league and that was about 10 years or more ago.

In the era I'm talking about, teams used to hire a coach or a minibus for the Hastings visit - which used to take 2 - 3 hours using the A272 (no nice A23/A27 dual carriageway then !)
Both the A and B fixtures would be arranged for the same night, so the teams could travel together, and the venues were the Fountain and the Marina, with a short walk down a little connecting lane for one of the teams. The Marina table was particularly good, with 10k+ scores the norm - especially for the home team !
I can remember John Slee and myself walking down the little lane to join up with the others, and we were in "high spirits" (=pi$$ed) obviously making too much noise close to midnight - as a local pulled down his bedroom window and told us to "Shut Up". He looked like a big burly Grant Mitchell type, so we meekly apologised ! ;D

Hi there, here are the match results from last nights match: Courthouse B vs Anchor Geoff Smith 4410 1480 Colin Manson Phil Lambourne 2370 1440 Andrew Lipscombe Denis Cole 3850 80 Moira Daines Mike Daw 3630 430 Ray Norton Nick Speight 3490 1460 Richard Fay
Unfortunately a low scoring night for all of us, for some reason we all kept losing good scores with plenty of pegs going down over the evening. The table was playing well though which is good for up and coming matches. Overall a good evening with the newest team in the league and look forward to playing them again.

Result from Wednesdays match
Ash B v Ash A
R.Harmer 8240 M.Caister 2010 S.Harmer 3160 V.Hibben 2520 C.Sexton 500 D.White 8730 M.Osborne 2360 P.Osborne 6100 R.Young 310 B.Osborne 9640
Ash B 2 Ash A 3
300 Breaks 1 x R.Harmer 1 x P.Osborne 1 x B.Osborne
We yet again squandered a 2-0 lead against our rivals, the old man started with a 6k break, i squeezed past vic, then it went downhill from there, the A side made the most of the break and the ever improving Phil played a lovely 4k break and came off just before the bar went.
An enjoyable evening....but we'll have them one day ;D

Nice to see the averages, but in terms of wins and losses I don't remember losing yet in our league this season. Actually!!!!! Somethings coming back to me, maybe i did lose one but I really cant remember who it was against. lol. My memory must be degrading. The only loss I remember was in the interleague week 1.

Ash B v Courthouse A
R.Harmer 12010 A.McFarlane 330 M.Osborne 4940 L.Brock 2220 C.Sexton 2630 R.Rizai 2410 S.Harmer 3610 D.Stapley 1020 R.Young 2180 J.Wond 2340
3000 Breaks R.Harmer x2
Ash B 4 Courthouse A 1
As usual a great even filled with light hearted banter from the westfield crew. Table didn't play anywhere near as it has been, slow going and the holes ringing quite often....til the old man got on the table, after coming within 400 of the highest away break last week he went for the highest home break on Wednesday....and came up 500 short...at least his consistant ;D
