In the latest Channel Islands Specialists Society bulletin, there is a mention of a rare handstamp applied to a postcard posted from Jersey in 1906. It reads; 'Two Medals/A.P.Degage, 5 Pier Road, Jersey - Maker of wood and fabric covering for Billiard tables' Too faint to reproduce here. However, by coincidence I have recently purchased a superb postcard of the interior bar of a Jersey Hotel 'Hotel du Palais de Cristal - Interieur du Grand Cafe Parisien' In the centre of the bar is a clear view of an early Billiards table. Although unposted I would date this card circa 1905-1910. Venue for the first Jersey Open ? Has Nigel Ryal been at it that long ?? Attachments:
