I know the World Championships will be held at the Hotel Ommaroo on 11th and 12th November 2006 but would like to know: who to contact, this year, for entries and has it been confirmed at £8.00 each again.
I only ask as The Jersey website is still working on 2005 details - 11 weeks to go :)
I may be seeing double(s) on Friday night too ;D ;D

Hi Graham, yes it is still £8.00 per player. Unless i`m told otherwise, i`ll be paying it to Nigel Bisson again. I think the pairs will be £ 10.oo per pair

Afternoon All, Please ignore the 'World Championship' site as this is a few steps behind the rest of the championship. I have some good news however, the entry forms are now available for both competitions. They are on the Jersey Website: www.jbbl.demon.co.ukHit the 'Enter Here' button and it shall take you direct to the forms. Download them direct to your PC and send them to Graeme Le Monnier (details on the form) and not Nigel Bisson as stated by KT. Entry form and fee must be with us before entry is confirmed. Any questions, please get in contact. Sean

As the pairs tournament is now going ahead on the Friday, are they going to be included in the rankings Pete ? :)

Its just that your rankings comprise of all opens and this is an open tournament, so thought it might be added, the same as the Cambridge Open next year if that goes ahead......

More like on a similar basis to the English equivalent, the Bournemouth Pairs. As for a Cambridge Open, only a 20% chance (there's a challenge for Mr George !). Whereas an inaugural Surrey Open is already on the drawing board and around 80% certain. And what about another Northants Open ? I was persuaded along once and it was held at the Rushden and Diamonds football club: an absolutely cracking venue.

Does anyone know the format for the pairs, ie are they drawn or can you enter with a chosen partner?
Thanks Paul

Paul,
I believe that you enter with a chosen partner, and play begins 7pm on the Friday.
Entry is limited to 64 pairs.

Does anyone know the format for the pairs, ie are they drawn or can you enter with a chosen partner? The entry forms are indeed for a "Pair", so Bernie gets a partner then? You obviously heard the erroneous rumours that you would have to "draw" your partner! Good job it isn't! The odds were that I would have had to play with someone who wouldn't want to even shake hands with me ;D Nice being popular!!!!! As it is, "milhouse" has drawn the short straw, so with his luck in draws, we will obviously get Paul and Bernie....

I think we will make a sound partnership. Mostly because people keep ADDING an "L" to your name where some people are determined to leave one out of mine. :D ::)

I can confirm that the 'Pairs' tournament will in fact be a - pick your own partner' event.
As previously said, all entries will only be accepted once the pair has been submitted with the entry fee of £10. All entries to go to Graeme Le Monnier and not myself.
By the way, anybody who is an administrator; can you authorise Graeme Le Monnier to join as he has been waiting for a few weeks.
Cheers Sean

Hi All,
Good to be here at last, just seemed like weeks ;)
Most queries have been answered by Sean (in my absence) and others by posts here, so apologies if I go over a few.
The pairs is a pick your own partner and is limited to the first 64 pais up entries that I receive, any up-paid shall be placed on the reserve list, as well as those once 64 has been reached. Entry fees shall be returned on the weekend of the tournament to those who enter but do not make the 64.
The pairs will start at 7:00pm on the Friday evening and be played upto and including the semi finals. The final at present is scheduled for close of play on the Saturday. All games are double games.
The new venue allows us to use 16 tables, instead of the normal 12. The extra tables have allowed us to bring forward the double games in the main competition to round 3, used to be round 4.
Entry Forms can be found on the JBBL website.
Looking forward to seeing you all soon, any further queries please post them.
Cheers all, Graeme

You lemon you.
Hi GLM, nice to have you in the fold.
Have you been a little impatient, perhaps that could be your middle name if you had not already got one: "Le"
Most will be glad to hear that a "two-leg" format is edging closer and closer, "up-doubtedly".
But there will always be some that buck the trend.
Good on you.
PS: How is Sir Nigel and Lady Olive????

Tough luck m8. Know that you'd have liked to have gone if you could have swung it. Hope it goes well for Marie and that you will fulfill your duties to the hilt wearing the pinny and doing the shake 'n'vac rather than neglecting them by sitting in front of a screen and trying to prevent me from lapping you again. ;D
