Darren Ogier and Paul Le Gallez win through to the next round of the pairs after beating Dave De Jersey and Bob Le Moignan.
Dave broke off in the 1st game and missed early with only 450 points. Both sets of players had several attempts at the table before Darren Managed to get the break back before securing a 7000 break and the win against the break.
Paul then broke off and managed only 1500 break, suffering ever since he spanked Trevor at the West legion. Dave and Bob were unable to pull this game around though as Darren and Paul steadily increased their score to 3500 with Bob and Dave only getting just short of 1000.
Darren and Paul only needed this game to end the evening and walk away 3-0 victors. Bob broke off and also struggled with the break and reached just 450. Bob and Dave though both had small breaks and were leading with just over 2500 with 90 seconds left on the clock. Darren managed to get the back and pushed hard to catch the score but was never near it and pegged just as the bar dropped.
Darren and Paul were 6360 up on aggregate and with Darren break to come looked clear favorites to progress. That didn't look as that would be the case though after only scoring 300 Darren left the red just in front of the 10 pocket. He managed a brilliant shot though and potted both balls. He then went on to score 9330 allowing for a 3-1 victory

Ian Champion knocks out Darren Ogier in the singles.
Played on the Fontaine table ehich is not playing very well at the moment. Ian Broke off with a modest 2k. Neither player could retain the break which was made worse with the red sitting right by the baulkline. Ian ahead not wanting to clear it for my benefit. Myself not wanting to clear as it was only a small lead with my break to come.
At the end of the first game Ian led my just 1k and Darren break to come. I had a rubbish opening break though and allowed in far to early. Ian then managed the top brilliantly and ending up giving me a bit of a lesson.
Good luck in the next round buddy

Just to clarify, i discovered on Tuesday morning that i will be out of the Island on teh 19th April, finals night therefore are no longer able to play in the singles or pairs knockout.
After a various conversations with committee members, a descision was made to let M Ogier through to the Semi's and Ian Champion would be permitted to select another partner who has not yet played in the competition.
All players relevant to this descision have been made aware of the committee descision.
Ian Champion has selected Bob Chapple as his new partner and will play Terry Girard and Norman Wilkingson in the first round of the knockout

Giants pair crash out to the Breakaway pairing of Paul and Darren.
After some shocking play by all 4 players the breakaways pair found themselves 2-0 down. With Karl and Tom winning in the 1st game (Tom Break)
Paul struggled on his break as karl and Tom nicked this game also.
With Karl to break it appeared a 3-0 loss was on the cards for Paul and Darren.
However Karl missed early and allowed Mr le Gallez to the Table. Paul Knocked in a nice 8k break to swing the game back into the breakaway pairs favour. Last game Darren has the break and whoever wins progresses to the next round.
Darren Knocks in 3k. Tom misses and Paul knocks in 3k and pegs.
Game too's and throws before time runs out and the mighty Paul and Darren progress.
Paul and Darren are now even. Darren carries team to victory in the 1st round. Paul Carries team to second round victory.

Island pairs match 2011 Darren Ogier,Paul Le Gallez v Ian Champion,Bob Chapple.
This match was a good high scoring match with a total of 46,810pts shared between to two pairs.
First up was Darren with a break just over the 4500k mark then when for a fifty thirty shot but both balls seemed to kick and stayed up, Bob to follow managed to reduce the score with a 3500k break but then some how missed his next putt to take any advantage,we all then had one more shot each until it came around to champs for the second time and managed to hit the break just at the right time to finish with a 3k break. 4850-7960 advantage champion/chapple
Chapple on next with the break opted to play the split which most guernsey players do not play this broke down on his break at 3660, Darren then stepped in to hit a tidy and steady 6700 to bring the game back level. 6700-3660 score 1-1
Paul with his next break with quite a bit of pressure on now due to his form in the last few weeks, He held his nerve very well to hit a 5500k break to apply the pressure, Champs followed this break and tried to clear the balls leaving one in front of the 10 hole, champs span the ball up the table putted one ball but the other came back only to hit the white peg over and give darren the break back. Darren then finished the game with another good break of 4k+ to leave them 2-1 up and a score of 8200 up going into the last game. 9440-1240 2-1 Ogier/Le Gallez
Champs break knowing a target of 8200 was needed plus more before he could let anyone on the table held his nerve. Having only one shot early on causing a slight problem and a small bit of luck he managed to compose himself to play out the table with a score of 12960 giving the game to Champion/Chapple on aggregate score.
Well done to darren and paul for a great billiards match close all the way if only others would have played they may have knocked us out as you very nearly did...... great game lads

World class Bar Billiards in Guernsey 11/4/11. Venue - Rangers Club - Blue table; Competition - Guernsey Island Singles quarter final; Paul Dyer v Trevor Gallienne;
The evening did not start of well, as club was not open when we arrived ::) After several phone calls the two players and merely four spectators were in to the venue. The heaters failed to warm the room, but the competition was sure to be hot 8-) 8-) 8-) Diddy was happy with the free tab, until the Strongow pump ran dry after just one pint. Was it to be one of those unlucky nights ? :-/ These two have met many many times in the Island singles, and Trevor has always edged it in some incredible high-scoring games played under great pressure. Were we to have a repeat ? ;) ;) ;)
Trevor won the toss, and put Diddy into bat first. Diddy started off at his normal confident rapid high scoring pace, with ease, not looking as though he was going to give this chance up easily. Scoring at an average of 1k a minute, he over hit a ball that span out of the 50 pocket and drifted into the centre of the table, however kept a break of 10.530 which would have graced any Open competition. Trevor to the table, and he failed to get the break back, scoring just 330. After a few shots, Diddy was back on the break, and scored another 4,015, with the bar dropping at a tad over 15 minutes.
So no pressure then for Trevor :o :o :o :o He started off at a rate that did not seem quick enough, however at 10k seemed to get quicker, chasing Diddy's total of 14,545. The bar dropped at 15 minutes dead and Trevor was slightly out of position at the bottom of the table. However he recovered to play it out, with Bob Le Moignan marking up a total break for Trevor of 15,100 , :o to deny Diddy a chance of winning the Island Singles yet again. :'(
A truly outstanding performance by both players that would have made an excellent final. A great shame there had to be a looser, However Diddy was consoled by the fact that he could go to the bar for another free bottle Magners cider. ::) Better stock up the bar for the weekend Oge. ;D ;D ;D
So for all you tipsters out there looking for some clues for the Guernsey Open, the four players contesting the Guernsey singles this year will be Trevor, Mat Ogier, Champs, and winner of Tom v Luke Oliver. May the best man win. ;)

Text from Andy (Judas) Rundle to say Baulkliners beat Breakaways 4-2 in the six-a-side knockout. Which makes them league champions and knockout winners. Still life in the old dogs yet. I'm sure the games were very close and hopefuly Oge wll put a match report up on proboards. Well done to the winners and hard luck to the loosers.
