We have finally played our last match on the Corner House table. We have a new one next week. It was dreadful last night. Nobody could get the break back in the 1st 3 legs and we were 3-0 down with a top score of 2,000. Alan Oliver and Bob Allsworth made it all look very easy at the end of the night. Alan scored nearly 10k and Bob over 11k.
The company have finally agreed that the slate is cracked, which is exactly what we have said for the last 18 months.

Gladiators 'B' V Gladiators 'A'
C. Drewitt........200 lost to P. Whitney.......6140 P. Clark..........3400 lost to B. Lovegrove...4940 N. Cunliffe........640 lost to K. Gardner.......7920 K. Pringle.....11100 beat D. Jarman...........2930 R. Johnson.......770 lost to B. Pincombe...12570 :(
Glads 'B' lost 1-4
:( I wasn't at the match until the last full game as I was in a committee meeting for the Gladiator Club. The draw could have been better for us but no excuses, anyway we'll thrash them at their place. ;D ;D ;D From what I heard Chris black pegged twice in his game, :( :( and Neil had the white over whilst going well. :( I don't know anything about Phil's game, except he lost. :( ;) I came back in half way through Kev's game and he played exactly the same as he did in our last home match. :) :) Obviously he touched off to early :( as this gave Bob a chance to beat his score in the next game.

I was only interested in the point Dick, going on for scores and big breaks on your home top is paramount to playing for the opponent ! Phil had the chances and blew it, over-hitting mainly. Neil was just making simple and careless basic errors. Chris nothing was going right, very nervy first game for him. So in summary the operative word is 'PRACTICE' !

Kev. I agree with both of your points entirely, yes the point is most important, scores mean nothing in a match, as long as you win, and yes we do need more practice, but most of our team are in it just for the fun and camaraderie and I find it very difficult to get them to practice, and this also includes me. :-[
