..........so there you have it, Chicken Phal with those evil red chillis the best cure for the common cold known to man.
Has certainly cleared my bronchials ! 8-)
Toilet roll on standby in the fridge as a precautionary measure. ;D

I spotted the new Chicken Phal in Sainsburys last week and got one reduced as well.
I was surprised that it was quite hot as I've never found their Vindaloo that hot.
Enjoy tonight and regret in the morning!!
What I also found surprisingly pleasant were their own Sainsbury's label tins of Thai Green Curry @ £1.30. Three tins made a surprisinly good curry for two for the price of one of the chilled readies. I'll try the red one next week.

Toilet roll on standby in the fridge as a precautionary measure. ;D That's a bit too much information for my liking Sav...... :o ;D ;D Lemon Chicken with Rice and Prawn Crackers here.... washed down by several large bacardi and cokes at the end of a very stressful day. >:( :'(

I have a small surplus of aubergines and a large surplus of chillies this year, plus plenty of onions and garlic from the garden. I intend to make some brinjal pickle. I will put you down for a jar. Have not decided on a name yet but 'ringstinger' is the current favourite. TSO

Aftereffects this morning not too adverse. Think my tolerance to the hotter stuff has improved through regular Madras's during the summer. 8-)
Yes you can put us down for a jar of your brinjal pickle, Shaun. Don't forget to wear goggles when making it. ;)
Will also try out Sav's tip about the Thai Green curry in tins. 8-)

Will also try out Sav's tip about the Thai Green curry in tins. 8-) It's nothing too special Tommo, but stuff in tins is normally rubbish in my experience. This is quite pleasant, cheaper and ideal for keeping in the cupboard in case of emergency or the curry house being shut on the way home!! Sav

I went in my local restaurant last week, ordered lamb garlic, which is superb, but when it came out no garlic was present :-/, and usually there's a good 10 cloves sliced in half 8-) The waiter asked how was my food? I said, this is a Rogon dish ;D not garlic, sure enough they'd made a mistake, but the rogon was delicious too ;)

Tried out the Chicken Balti tonight. Very nice. Complemented with a glass of Villa Radiosa Soave white wine, as no fire quenching necessary.
Reckon my palate falls somewhere between Balti and the slightly less potent Madras. :-/

It's a very tasty zero-alcohol lager (I don't like getting pi$$ed at home). A six pack at Sainsburys £3-99. (Half price, £1-99 at present). Nothing like Kaliber, which has no taste whatsoever.

A strange adventure accompanying this one.....Settled down to watch The Chase, while the above was being prepared. Suddenly an attack of the hiccups, and when tommo gets them they are very loud and the attack lasts a full hour minimum. :o :o Dish was served up (including three onion bhajias) and was left to stand for obvious reasons. Holding breath and taking a spoonful of Aloe Vera juice had no effect. Dammit I thought after half an hour, I'm going to eat my meal regardless. >:( Guess what, after the second mouthful the hiccups disappeared. :o :o So - Lamb Rogan Josh.....quite tasty, a change from the usual chicken, and a newly discovered cure for hiccups ! 8-)

Hi Tommo I hate to think of anyone suffering like that, if I had jumped through your window in the buff, they'd have stopped immediately, failing that the sight is enough to put anyone off their food for hours. ;D ;)

I never did find out who she was! :-/ :'(

Re-visiting the theme, tommo had his first-ever Vindaloo earlier this evening..... The consuming part was okay, the coriander naan (with a couple of bhajias thrown in) complementing the dish in place of rice, but the "after-burner" a couple of hours later was a definite culture shock......the expediency necessary caught me on the hop twice, and as a consequence a couple of very near misses. :o :o ;D Still, it's a satisfying dish, and when the time comes I shall be up for the challenge again as there's another one left in the freezer. May leave it a fortnight though which should allow ample time for recovery of nether regions. :o

We'll make a man of you yet Clive ;D
The real culture shock is your first Phall, and then the 20 minutes trying to get rid of hiccoughs after your first mouthful :o I haven't had one for years but I'm sure Ian can still relate to our Haywards Heath curry nights..... if my memory serves me right we frequented the place approx 5 times a week after our visit to the Victory, good old days ;D

Yes the Phal was the first one assessed on this thread: I spotted the new Chicken Phal in Sainsburys last week and got one reduced as well. I was surprised that it was quite hot as I've never found their Vindaloo that hot. Enjoy tonight and regret in the morning!! Sav Sav's assessment is spot on, the Vindaloo is not that hot to eat, whereas the Phal is (eyes were watering whilst eating it). But once they've gone through the (digestive) system the situation is reversed! :o
