Most of my life i have wanted to achieve 20k break, last night i did. Lets hope this can copy over to my league form! Thank you to the exiles for the support last night during the break. Also thanks Tiny for picking me for the 7s. I believe it helped me progress with the exp.

Well done Johnny,
Another personal ambition reached.
Switching to Northants is proving to have been a good move. 8-)

You've got players like Simon and Stephen very hopeful that the Exiles table is playing that well just now. Both are also capable of such a score and will now be looking forward to the game in a couple of weeks time!!

Having congratulated you Johnny, I now think you've got a bit carried away by including this PB in your signature.....as I understood it, it was only achieved in a friendly and doesn't therefore count as a competitive break ! Apologies in advance if I have this wrong.

I am entitled to put what i want in my signature. I have not stated it is competitive and tbh any 20k break regardless of friendly or not is an achievement. I feel I dont need to justify my break in my signature. Plus I am not the only person on here to do so!

Quite correct, you are entitled to put what you like in your signature. Down in Sussex, though, the likes of Silver Fox, Chunky Monkey and BB Warrior are pushing the bar higher and higher, but only claim breaks or scores made competitively - and quote the occasion when they were made, in the interests of credibility. They would not dream of claiming something made in a practice session. ::)

well i can see both statements maybe i should put down that not only i hit 20k in practice but also played the 19.50 minutes table out going well over 1k a minute but i wont till i hit that 20k in a match against an opponent because the pressure in both practice and a match are two very different things
kind regards

the pressure in both practice and a match are two very different things Nail on the head, there. I could lay claim to a break of 31,100 in practice on 29/06/2008. Mind you, I pulled the handle half-way through ! ;D ;D ;D

Totally Johnny I remember playing the bar out for the 1st time one Sunday afternoon on my table at home and then popping out to an interleague game and scoring 4o points! I think in general players only post recorded "competition" scores on their signatures Otherwise of course we can put what we like!

Up to Johnny to put whatever he likes in his signature (within the rules of propriety) and it's not up to others to deride him.
If I'd got a 5k break at his age, practice or match, I would have been pleased as punch.

Any big break is worth the confidence factor, I have, as has Simon, played the Fox table out on many occasions, yet I have played in matches on the same table days after, and only scored 2,4.5 k :-[ weird but the 'pressure' of the game has a massive effect, for me ::) 8-) sometimes ;) also your opponent can kill the game with balls hanging around below the 100 hole, and at the back of the 50 holes. you all know what I mean, i'm sure.

I will admit my break in my signature was not in a league match, but a simple practice match against my dad. I still was competitive to beat him and chasing 11k from the first leg and to come back with 19300 at 21 yrs old of course I am gonna be happy and tell people! However I can understand everyone's point of view.

Hi Coleman III, A 19k at your tender age is awesome, even in practice and is unquestionably a sign of great potential.
Just to say that I did not mean to belittle yourself or Johnny by raising the issue of friendly vs matchplay, but rather in the interests of 'standardization' thus maintaining credibility.
Regular large league/county scores and good performances in the Opens eventually leads to England selection!

I'm playing tonight on the very same table that Johnny got his 20k on, in a singles match, so by this time tomorrow, I should have my first 20k ;) . . . . . .
Then again, i might be lucky with a 2k ;D 8-)

May I just say well done to both of them on their breaks, whether it be in practice or matchplay it's still an achievement to make a 20k brk or score or even increase your own milestone whatever that may be. It's good to see young and enthusiastic players playing this game, as they are rare to find these days....keep it up and enjoy 8-)
I must admit to not remembering when I made my first 20k but I would think that I must have been chuffed about it.
The highest score that I've ever heard about was in practice and was made by the current World record holder Mark Sawyer with 31,000.

Tommo I may have came across slightly blunt, I know you would not want to belittle anyone. I can understand the standard for similarity. 20k is not something that's comes by as often in our neck of the woods! ;)
Hopefully with a few more 20ks in practice you will all see more youngsters hitting big scores in opens!

Going to lob a farthing into the bucket of opinion here:
I too can see the reasons for comparison between scores in practice and the competitive arena, but - as Coleman junior said, getting that sort of break in any single pull of the bar deserves kudos. Personally, I can recall hitting just the one 10k break and while I have come close to going around the board in a competitive game, never done it. One of my aims is to do so; break or total. Don't mind which, and I feel sorry for the poor sod on the receiving end - the shock may well do for them.
I admire anyone who can block out everything and just, sort of, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, as it were, until the balls run out. I simply do not have the depth of concentration to do it. Give me a table full of balls - some in daft places and I will clear it. Trick shots? No problem, plants, three / four ball - you choose, I will point to 'em and tell you which ones will drop where. Even a few four pin shots on a three pin table when I screw up.I know my way around a table...But 20k plus; presumably repeating the same sequence of shots over? No. Can't do it. As soon as I get a few grand on the board and start to think of it as a building block thing, the wheels come off. Weird innit!
So congrats Johnny, Stephen - and hopefully, it's a case of when, not if you manage this in a competitive arena; having seen you both chasing down scores and doing it, the pressure is not going to phase you dudes; then I shall offer you the drink you deserve for achieving such a feat.
Keep practicing against those with more experience and you can only gain.
