7 days to go on this Burroughs and Watts: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260846439920B & W are soundly made, greatly favoured by Guernsey BBL. Tim (West Sussex) will probably also be following with interest. :-/ Went tonight for £820 after 33 bids. Winning bidder only came in in the last few seconds, beating the 'best bid' determined in advance by his main rival.
Quality tables seem to be getting rarer to find, and are now attracting good prices.

No reserve on this Riley: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320769154864Everything in place except the timer: electronic with slot and push button. Can't beat the old French-made "Brevete" ones with the handle ! ;) Pulled from eBay with the following message: This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.Would imagine that somebody made him a private offer.

Not sure what it is, but the front does not look like proper wood. Sav Looks to me like it's been planed. :-/ The fact it has an electronic timer suggests it's passed through the hands of a pub chain operator such as Punch Taverns.

An excellent Burroughes & Watts: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220872435260Expect Tim to be in the market for this one - or maybe an ideal buy for Guernsey? I see Enzo's in for this one, so might be an idea for anyone else interested to collude with him rather than bump price up by bidding against each other.Went for £511 after 21 bids.

An absolutely immaculate Riley: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370555571384Can't praise this one highly enough, looks like it's arrived from a timewarp. Look at those Riley-labelled cues and other accessories. And a wonderful wooden cover. It's from East Grinstead, a black hole in the bar billiard universe. Probably from a posh gentleman's club. Good luck mr Tim, I'm sure you'll want this one. ;) ;D PS - 1 drawback - would need new cups to adapt it for League play, those shown have the four 'easy-drop' bars sometimes found on Riley tables.Went for £1,021-01 after 17 bids. First Riley ever I've seen go for over a grand, but then it is an exceptional example.

Caveat Emptor on this one: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250931737703I've never heard of a 5ft bar billiards table before: from the picture it could be a full sized (6ft) table top - or just as easily a miniature (4ft) 'Joe Davis'. Is it just a top, or is there a frame as well? - Presumably so, as a 'timer' is mentioned. But why then is there no picture of the frame? That's just for starters. A few years back, several people were duped into buying miniatures on eBay, thinking they were full-sized tables, but had no comeback as they were 'sold as seen'. This was obvious by the speed at which they were trying to sell them on! Another thing - is it just me, or is the picture upside-down ? ::) If I view standing on my head, :o it looks like a full-sized Riley in reasonable nick. :-/ This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available

Picture is upside down,
Don't know what it is but the top pockets are far too close to the top cushion for it ti be a standard table AFAICS. Could be a table top version, some of those were five foot.
Scoreboard's a Riley.

As per note above, now withdrawn from sale. Sav asked the question about the dimensions, and back came the answer '6ft'. Table was apparently from the Three Hats public house, Milton Regis, Sittingbourne. One that escaped our map: www.pubsgalore.co.uk/pubs/16909/Oh well, doesn't matter now, looks as if a private viewing was arranged and a deal struck on the spot.

Spruced up Riley 'rescued' from a Gillingham pub: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=32079736997850p coin timer, probably works with a button on the side. There seems to be a purge going on on all tables in North Kent at present - wonder why? :o :o EDIT - Message now appears thus, This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. No serious bids were made, and it was removed jolly quickly, so reckon some fan of Riley Tables has struck a deal for this excellent specimen.

Another SAMS of the 'correct' dimensions: Burroughes & Watts table (see corres with Till below)www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270862174964Lovely condition too - despite having been used for the 4-Pin variant of our game ! Absence of the timing mechanism will mean a mark down on the price, though. Pity. This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available

A Riley, in desperate need of a good home: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260901394883Shouldn't go for too much, as not many will relish the long journey to Cumbria to collect. ;) Went for £367 after 12 bids.A last minute flurry of activity. Went up from £220 in the last 5 mins. Well done, J**n, who ever you are, your tactics were perfect. ;)

Hi Tommo, Although i don't play league bar billiards i have a table identical to this, are you sure that this is a wide sams and not a Burrough and watts, the position of the clock favouring the right of the table is the same as the pictures i have seen of the Jersey tables also my table has a plaque on it which reads "An ORMCO speciality made by burrough and watts ltd for ORME and Son Ltd" Also i cant do the Oxford on mine as i believe on BW tables the 50's are nearer the cushion. As i am not involved in bar billiards i only browse the members section out of interest to expand my knowledge on table manufacturers, pretty sure this is a BW table but would be glad to be proved Wrong Cheers Till

Cheers Till Pretty sure you are right on what you say, Till. I raised my eyebrows at the dimensions quoted ie 6'2"by 3'3" which seemed too wide for a 'normal' SAMs - so B & W must be the answer. They took over Riley of course, but the B & W tables that preceded the takeover were of pretty solid construction and I haven't seen that many in six years of studying movements on eBay ! Incidentally the Jersey tables throw people taking part in the WC's for the first time by the 50 pockets being further away from the cushions. Thanks for the tip about the time offset to the right - another distinguishing factor for the future !

Well Till
Looking forward to Sav's view on this one
Hard to tell for sure but the 50's do look slightly out of line with the 30's
Clock position and the top of the legs do suggest maybe not a Sams and maybe a B&W?

I have been watching Ebay for the last 2 years and although a few B+W Tables have been up for grabs in that time i havent seen another like this with the fancy mouldings i am guessing that this would have been there first stab at a bar billiard table as the decline in full sized billiards forced them to try and expand there range of products.

Yup looks like a B&W, good tables!
Definitely not a Sams as legs not chamfered and no corner pieces on the corners of the top. The corner pieces are the giveaway for the occasional Sam’s lookalike I have seen.

Something freaky about this one
The top seems to overhang too much for a B&W but from the side all looks normal....
Coin slot to the right non tapered legs so see where you are coming from....But?

Think your right about this BFG, the cue hooks look BW, the hole positions look Bw but the ball tray doesnt seem to be at the right angle, the legs dont look quite right to me and the woodwork in the baulk area would normally be mitred at 45 degrees where clearley its not, True BW tables seem to have all the hall marks of true craftsmanship this seems to be slightley lacking just wish there were more photos.

If you are talking about This one then it looks like a B&W but I'm not sure exactly what it is but it just does not look right to me. Picture could be missleading but it looks awfully long and narrow to me though I have not seen a narrow table in this design before. Would like more photos! Sav

Definately a narrow table, the distance between the white spot and the black peg is huge and the 50s, 100s and the back row are too squished together.
EDIT: He's added that the dimensions for this one are: Outside - 75"x39" Playing area - 65"x32" Height - 34"

Makes it standard width! Photo is thus missleading.
