Congratulations, Tony. Delighted that it's gone to a good home. ;D Let us know how you get on with it once installed. Cheers Clive. See what needs doing to it and then put it in one of our pubs whose team are getting disheartened with their terrible table.... Tony

Really was tempted I tell you that. Finger hovered on the B-I-N button for a while, storage became the problem but now regret it as the Oakley's have offered to have the 'burden' of having one in their lounge ;)

Here's an interesting one from the West Midlands: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110824662476Intrinsicly a Jelkes, which has been customised, including conversion of the timing mech. to take tokens. Looks like it's out of a pub or club. I say 'customised' as it hasn't undergone the classic type of refurbishment - more of a 'pimp my ride'. ;D ;D Went for a single bid of £450.

I was looking at this one yesterday evening caveat emptor i consider
rear legs and cornerpost do not match the front in finish,
Looks mighty faded to be freshly covered unless its some wierd cloth.
Wrong markers and no cue hooks
Tokens might just be the size of one of the earlier coins.
Looks a bit like a poor or incomplete refurbish

Jelkes from the Stonehenge area: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260959149426Far from impressed with this one. 1. Round legs normally indicate a pre-war table, but those are normally in oak. So "the wrong legs" fitted ? 2. The 'refurbushment' mentioned seems to include nothing much more than the pillaging of the timing mechanism (and probably the bar) and a possible re-cloth. 3. The mahogany wood finish looks a bit jaded. I've seen a lot smarter. ....or maybe I'm being unfair ? Went for the exact face value of £600 after 12 bids.

Jelkes from the Stonehenge area: ....or maybe I'm being unfair ? Possibly a little critical. Looks like Oak to me not mahogany, nine slots, round legs puts it as one of the later 'early' tables. Problem will be that it wants recovering and, after fifteen years, new rubbers as well. Then you need to find a clock and proably a bar. Sav.

How did you get on with your new acquisition from Chi ? It's as good as I could have hoped for, excellent condition, looks gorgeous and I could not turn it down for five and a half hundred. I'll see if Dover & Deal want it and they can have it at cost. If not then there will be a very good table on Ebay shortly. It used to belong to Jack Dee. Sav.

Quality Jelkes with conversion by Bar Billiards (Kent), Stelling Minnis (Just like tommo's ;D): www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251041414282These had the slates shortened and old swinging backboard replaced, and type of legs can vary (this one has post-war thru'penny bit legs). But look at the condition of that oak ! Everything exudes quality on this one, could reach the thousand mark. Well, nearly: went for £933.50 after 17 bids.

Very nice looking Jelkes here, location Milton Keynes (not so nice! ;D): www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251061666083Vendor has since added that timer not working (could be a simple operation to correct). As with all Jelkes, assurances needed that legs are rock solid and wood threads have not been damaged. Pictures do not show if it's pre-war (round legs) or post-war (thrupenny bit legs). Went for £700 after 2 bids.

Post-war Jelkes, oozing quality. Privately owned, location Staffs: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280921786012#ht_624wt_1270Absence of clock mechanism an obvious drawback affecting the potential sale value. Perfect though for a private buyer wanting a smart piece of furniture. NB. One of my teammates has expressed an interest in this one, I say this in the hope that no bidding war ensues with a Forum member !Went for £715 after 13 bids with a bid going in in the last 5 seconds. I wonder !

'Converted' pre-war Jelkes from Spalding, Lincs: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170885117478#ht_500wt_1287Beautiful oak. Round white disc saying 'approved by the National Bar Billiards Association'. My guess is that the timing mechanism will have 'property of Bar Billiards (Kent) Stelling Minnis' engraved in the middle of the diamond. Excellent brass fitting overhead lamp adds to the quality. Recommended. PS. I wonder if the golf clubs in pic 1 are thrown in as a freebie? :D Went for £715-99 after 14 bids. In the last 5 seconds a bid was made which upped the price by £100.

Yup, looks like a 'Samsised' Jelkes, so I'd guess it spent its hoildays in Stelling Minnis at some point, so a good sign. Cloth looks well faded or worn so I'd guess is the cushion rubber.
Underneath it all one of the better ones, provided the slate is OK.

Table sadly going out of a village pub near High Wycombe, Bucks: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170891238477#ht_500wt_1156Picture given is a standard picture from a website, so suggest before buying, go and view the item in situ first: Tables from this area are mainly traditional Jelkes, previously serviced by the former Bar Billiards Ltd of Ascot, so may well turn out to be worth the Buy-it-Now price. Gone straight away to the Buy-it-now price of £500.

Nice post-war Jelkes here from Buxton, Derbys: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160872775778#ht_678wt_1271A question has been asked about the slate, yet to be answered. Possible risk of previous mishandling when esconced in a theatre ! Second picture looks to be of a different table (darker wood) but may just be a trick of the light....... [edit - Photo added to the listing, showing perfect slate bed. Also of counter, showing 58,000 games on the clock.] Went for a worthy £820 after 14 bids.

Another pub getting rid of its table, in Salisbury this time: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150892773885#ht_500wt_1288Pre-war Jelkes with the round legs, mahogany finish. Looks well looked-after. A lot of interest already on this one. I wonder if it's the Lion's Head at Winterslow ? (That being the only table we know of in the Salisbury area.)This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.Sounds like someone might have made a private offer....

High quality Jelkes in perfect condition, beautiful oak, thru'penny bit legs: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221119758114#ht_500wt_12882 problems: the starting bid asked of £950, and the location of Scotland. Has a metal Bar-billiards Ltd label, suggests it has good provenance, probably full set of maintenance stickers inside. AEBBA may be pricking their ears up on this one, would have to sponsor a long journey to collect it, though. No takers, and vendor has put it straight back on at the same starting request of £950. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221122246917Obviously the same comments apply. No takers again. I think this clears the way for an All-England bid. :-/

Looks the bees knees, but not sure on the photos on this one, photo 4 looks older mid brown or light oak to the others which look more modern, may just be the light. No indication of slate condition
I'll be mildly surprised if it sells at £950 that far North, too much for AEBBA with almost 1000 miles in petrol. However Sav will be in the Lake District in a couple of weeks time with the big trailer, not completely full, could be more interesting if it does not sell.

Nr.Chippenham, Wilts) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180968489861#ht_500wt_1288Went for a princely £1,080 after 9 bids. To a good home, no doubt. 8-) ......precious cargo fetched and delivered by Sav: The other table I picked up for new member Nigel from the Six Bells SN14 8DD near Chippenham was not on the map. Sav

Pre-war Jelkes from Virginia Water (= Nob alley) ;D www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251148660207Plusses: Everything original, nice oak, even a four-lane scoreboard. Minuses: 1) Damage to boxwood insert that holds the leg - usually caused by dragging table around on its legs. 2) Timer has been deactivated (probably removed). Went for £470 after 2 bids, on the button I'd say.
