Sadly, looks like a Railway Club in Castleford area is losing its table before even getting on to our map: :'( [edit] - might be the Bus Depot clubhouse on this evidence: The bus station is situated in Castleford Town Centre off Albion Street and is approximately 100 metres away from the town's railway station. The bus station is due to be replaced in the near future. Building works was due to begin during 2010 on a brand new bus/rail interchange situated at Castleford's rail station, however the project was delayed and Metro and Wakefield Council are seeking funding from the Government for the work...cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330800176527#ht_500wt_1288Looks well looked after, too. Went for £515-50 after 18 bids. A bargain indeed.

Here's a rarity: a Suffolk table which seems to be of 'normal' rather than narrow dimensions: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bar-Billiard-Table-cues-chalk-mushrooms-/160904244113?Cloth looks good, although D would have to be replaced with a smaller one for 3-pin. Not sure about the quality of the 'professional repair' to the slate: a pretty momentous crack, judging from the picture, should be braced for added strength. :-/ Went for £585 after 13 bids.

The smartest SAMs table I've ever seen. Location: Wakefield. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sams-Bar-Billiards-Table-/321012070122 This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available. Highest of 8 bids was £305 which was nowhere near the reserve. Buy it now was set at £795. Expect this one to be re-listed soon, but will have to be pitched more realistically if it is to sell.

SAMs table, location Liskeard, Cornwall: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/bar-billiards-table-/251193070211A shame this one, would have been ideal for Q - but for the fact that the slate (obviously no good) has been replaced with an MDF base. Must reduce the value dramatically. No timer either, that handle must just be for show. :-/ Went for just £135-30 after 9 bids.

Buyer be a bit wary on this SAMs hybrid (?), location Brentwood, Essex: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/slate-top-bar-billiards-table-all-accesories-/300827174554Frame is undoubtedly a SAMs (from the legs and the layout of the channels), but the top could be a Jelkes (it has the trademark swinging backboard). Mahogany is normally a deep brown, almost chocolatey colour, and I am amazed how photos can portray it like a light oak, it's not the only case I've seen like this recently. Additional questions need answering: 1. The condition of the slate, as pictures shown are of everything else but ! 2. The table dimensions - for buyer to establish if he is bidding for one of standard dimensions - or a 'narrow' one. Went for £821 after 32 bids. Hope the buyer finds this one okay, but, the first thing I'd do is take that backboard to a dealer and try to swap it.

Looks like a narrow Sams with a Jelkes backboard.

Questions have been asked Clive, I did know where there was a complete full size slate (only 3 miles away from me), if the questions are suitably answered I shall see if said slate is still there... I might get a table yet.... trouble is I dont know where I'd put it now :(

Quality item here, location Chichester: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bar-billiards-table-/130817217539SAMs of standard dimensions - 77" sounds a bit long, but they have measured to the tray. Expect Tim or Mr H will be pricking their ears up at this one ! Bidding has ended on this item. 13 bids were made, the highest being £410 but the reserve was not met.

No it wasn't me Clive, I have however had quite a bit of correspondance with the vendor and he intends coming along to the Cornish Inn one night for a game ;D His table would have cost a lot to put back into a 'useable' condition, I asked if the (assumed broken) slate was still available, the answer was NO, I asked about the timer - removed and not available, similar story with the bar, so it would only have been useful as a 'fun' table (if you can count a MDF top as fun) even if the other slate I knew of was still around purchasing a timer and buying (or making) a bar wouldn't make economical sense.
BUT... we may have gained a third member for the Cornish League 8-)

The Hickman's are having a sniff but no reply as to the reserve or the slate condition. Even for spares its reasonable.

Vendor is not obligated to declare the reserve figure - that's for the bidders to find out ! I expect this one to be re-listed soon - there was after all a lot of interest.

Standard-sized SAMs, location Rugeley, Staffs: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sams-Bar-Billiards-Table-Complete-Original-Working-Order-/251212704861This is actually quite a handsome table, with correct dimensions and pocket-markings for 3-Pin, but seems to have been used instead for 4-Pin ! Anyone snapping this up for around the £500 mark would simply have to change the D, and paint one of the four pegs black and put the extra in a safe place, and they would have a bargain ! ;D Went for £560 after a record 43 bids from 16 different bidders.

Think you will find it's a Sams look-a-like, difficult to tell from the photos but the last one I saw with that iron backboard was a look-a-like.
Just as good as sams but not authentic. The telling item is the corner pieces, Sams have overlapping corner pieces to conceal the joint, the look-a-likes do not. Also the ball return dividers are not sculpted on the look-a-likes, neither are clear here.

Looking closer at the table and some photos of a Sams look-a-like that I refurbished a few years ago am now sure it is not a Sams.
Still a good table, though in desperate need of recovering.

Great condition SAMS, location Somerton, Somerset (near Shepton Mallet): www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bar-Billiards-Table-Authentic-Stelling-Minnis-Coin-Operated-Good-condtion-/221202956241When there was a league out this way, the tables were supplied by the table operator in Kent, hence the Stelling Minnis engraving on the timer plate. The damage to the leatherette (overcome with some strategically placed duck tape) is from constant cue action, so almost certainly this table has been used for league play. Went for a realistic £837.77 after 21 bids.
