You're right to ask the question, Richard, but I'm acting in accordance with my briefing. Traditionally the numbers are made up by either a second Portsmouth team, or failing that a second team from Redhill. Portsmouth couldn't make it last year, but indicate they should be okay to muster one team this year. Redhill Ladies made noises last year as to "why do they never get an invite?" - so we are putting that right this time around.

So therefore Redhill B have been replaced by Redhill Ladies. That`s what you call girl power :P
Now, where`s that skirt ? :-X :-/ :-*

You`ve jumped the gun a bit here Clive. This is only a provisional list and will be discussed at the next committee meeting on 28th October. [large quote removed, we know to what you are referring - tommo]

You have the advantage over me here Richard, as I am no longer part of the Redhill committee and you are. But I am still acting as a link between Redhill/Surrey and the outside world at the express wish of Gary (Chairman) and Colin (Tournaments Director) and it is they who have asked me to publicize this event - and to reveal the likely participants at this stage.
No official invites have been sent out, and in view of what you say, none will be until after your committee meeting on the 28th Oct. In the meantime I will make a slight amendment to the prospective line-up to reflect what you still have to thrash out.

You can take it that Tunbridge Wells are invited. I was about to send the invitation out but can now confirm on here instead. We look forward to seeing you on the day. 8-)

Horsham have advised that they are unable to field a team, so an invitation is extended to our friends from Oxford.

No Oxford, despite the efforts of four different Captains (!) so it looks like we'll be going with three Redhill teams.

Congratulations to Worthing for winning the Team Invitation Competition today, beating Redhill A on head-to-head with both teams finishing level on 36 points. 8-)

Another excellent day of bar billiards at St Nicholas School, to complete a hectic weekend..................
Congratulations to this year's Invitation Winners Worthing, captained by Sir KT, and to the Runners-up Redhill A, which is a reversal of last year's honours. But it was close, with both teams finishing on 36 points, but Worthing taking it on countback. Third and fourth was also a tie with Brighton taking it from Portsmouth - again on countback. Mid Sussex were fifth. Redhill B, Tunbridge Wells and Redhill Ladies completed the lineup.
A high standard of play was maintained throughout the competition, and a fuller transcript of the event may be added later.
Meanwhile, other comments as to whether or not you enjoyed the day are invited. ;)

Mixed feelings about my own performance but firstly congratulations to Worthing. Secondly, to those that set up the tables - well done! That's the best I've seen that set of tables play! (those who know me will know I don't particularly like those tops. Thankyou to all the organisers for a very well run day!

Intersting game on table 6 chunky :o Playing one up split to catch Ian 8-) It has to be said that that was on one of the two tables borrowed from the Limes to make the numbers up to 10. The break was 'on' on all of the AEBBA-owned tables. Wonderful technique from Kev to keep that routine (one-up,split) going on a super-fast table with so little margin for error. I tried it against Jim but couldn't get the ball to stay where I wanted on the 'D'.
