Enthusiasm seems to be waning locally in participating in 'Opens' (although the Surrey Open is always well supported). But at the last Open - Oxfordshire - only three Surrey people entered (Jukesey, margo and tommo) - and even then Jukesey had to pull out as he was recovering from a minor operation in hospital the day before. So, as Delia would say, "Let's be 'aving you!"Here are the next two coming up: 1. Portsmouth Open, Sun 10th April 2011 www.aebba.org.uk/Entry%20Forms/portsmouth.pdf2. Guernsey Open, Sun 1st May 2011 www.guernseybarbilliards.org.uk/files/GsyOpen2011.pdfFor those who like the World Championships in Jersey, Guernsey makes for a great weekend too, especially at the time of year (May Day Bank Holiday). You can limit your expenses by going by boat (don't listen to people who say it's no cheaper than flying) and the journey by the Sea Cat only takes two hours AND you can get an early Saturday sailing which you don't get later in the year. This year they're also introducing an Open Pairs Competition, to be played on the Saturday and starting at 12 noon. So far the only entries (with one or two exceptions) have been from Guernsey, Jersey, Sussex and Oxon - it would be good to see some from Surrey over there as well !
