2.15 T3 Cherry Dinsmore v Sheila KingThe Third Round of Main Competition will precede the Plate, the First Round of which commences at 3pm. The Finals of both competitions are scheduled for 6.45pm. Good luck to all ! How to get there............ www.wheresbest.co.uk/venue/117411/Reigate-Ex-Service-&-Social-Club/I have found the best way when approaching from the South is: 1. Straight on up the hill after reaching the Angel, Woodhatch crossroads, and down the other side ! 2. Before you reach the town, take the last turning on the right, Lesbourne Road. This road cuts back sharply. 3. Past a pub on the right, past the "no entry" road, look out for Chart Lane on the right, and turn here. 4. A short way along there is an angled crossroads with the Reigate Ex-Services Club on a sort of cliff to the left. 5. Good luck with the parking is all I can say ! ........and for those approaching from the North: 1. Exit the M25 at Reigate Hill (Junction 8) and take the A217 leading down into Reigate. 2. Over the railway crossing, then follow the one-way system which leads you out into Bell Street (left turn at T junction) which will now head you due south. 3. Look out for Lesbourne Road on the left, then follow 3) to 5) above.

A most entertaining and enjoyable day culminated in the crowning of Surrey's own Alison Norman as the new BIOC Ladies Champion, when she beat the Ladies Number One Pauline Withey in the Final. (A personal triumph for Ali, in her own words "up to now often the bridesmaid but never the bride")
Here is how the whole day went:

Second Round Carla Jolly bt Margaret Thompson Colleen Park lost to Caroline Jones (Sur) Fiona Doyle (Sur) lost to Denise Wills (Sur) Trish Wadsworth (Sur) lost to Sue Atkins (Ox) Pauline Withey (Ox) bt Hayley Tunstall (Sus) Ros Appleby (Sus) lost to Debz Pearce (Sur) Karen Bacchus (Sur) lost to Genette Nicholls (Sur) Bella Stoner (Sus) w/o Nabila Dinsmore (Sur) Sonia McIntyre (Ox) lost to Jenny Florey (Ox) Jean Brackenridge (Sus) lost to Chris Toner (Hants) Alison Norman (Sur) bt Sheena Wood (Sus) Sandra Race (Sus) w/o Lynne Moyes-Robb (Sus) Lorraine Hamblin (Sur) lost to Joyce Mannell (Hants) Lorraine Hall (Sus) bt Shuana Nicholls (Sur) Melissa Stanbridge(Ox) bt Linda Tidy(Sur)(repl't for Nikki Hinkins,Sus) Cherry Dinsmore (Sur) scratched to Sheila King (Sur)

Second Round Bobby Davis bt Kirsty Davis Fiona Doyle lost to Trish Wadsworth Hayley Tunstall bt Ros Appleby Karen Bacchus lost to Bella Stoner Sonia McIntyre lost to Jean Brackenridge Sheena Wood bt Sandra Race Lorraine Hamblin lost to Shuana Nicholls Linda Tidy lost to Sheila King
Quarter-Final Bobby Davis bt Trish Wadsworth Hayley Tunstall lost to Bella Stoner Jean Brackenridge bt Sheena Wood Shuana Nicholls lost to Sheila King
Semi-Final Bobby Davis lost to Bella Stoner Jean Brackenridge bt Sheila King
Final Bella Stoner lost to Jean Brackenridge
Well done to Bobby Davis - Redhill's own octogenarian was eliminated at the first stage by Margo, but then went all the way to the Semi-Final of the Plate with wins over Angie Turner, Kirsty Jarvis and Trish Wadsworth before falling to Bella Stoner. That makes TEN frames of bar billiards - on top of the five she played in the Blind Pairs yesterday ! :o :o :o
Grateful thanks to the Reigate Ex-Services staff, to Colin and Brenda for the catering, to Dave Alder for the delivery/collection of tables, to those who arrived early to set them up, to the table sponsors, to those who kindly donated raffle prizes and to Genette for selling the tickets, and last but not least to Caroline Jones on the Admin Desk ably assisted by master of ceremonies Gary Powell.

Let us know what you think of the new venue, peeps. ;)
I thought the tables fitted in there rather nicely - and the beer prices were good, too. :D

Let us know what you think of the new venue, peeps. ;) I thought the tables fitted in there rather nicely - and the beer prices were good, too. :D We thought that the venue was very good for a competition of this size, room to sit down and watch the games and still move around to the bar and nice outdoor patio area...... 8-) Good choice of drinks at reasonable prices, excellent range of food (as always) from Colin & Brenda and the usual friendly welcome from the organisers and players from Redhill..... ;D Many thanks to everybody involved for a great weekend...... and congraulations to Alison & Jean for their victories on the day. ;)

Excellently organised and very well run day by Surrey Officials!! Many Congrats to all winners!!
Bar staff friendly and very helpful and service was excellent.
Room was rather dark and a little too small I felt... especially when you look at the wonderful size of the school.. however bar prices and choice was far better..
There was a problem with tables 5 and 4 as they were placed right where the carpet meets the dance floor which causes a substantial ridge under your foot when playing ... especially if you are a short **** :-X like me ;) ;D

Fair comments, and we need feedback or else we don't know what areas to try and improve for the next time.
I've personally always had the parking down as a mark against the venue, but being a Sunday, it didn't seem too congested.
