In case you're wondering, the Redhill & District Bar Billiards League will be staging the: BRITISH ISLES LADIES SINGLES on Sunday, 5th April 2009 (11.30am for 12 noon start)
.... at The Frenches Club, Redhill, Surrey (sadly, the last event EVER to be held there)
Entrance will be £7 per person. [edited - has gone up a quid since last year - inflation - sorry !] There will be both Main and Plate Competition, and hot food will be available all afternoon.
No entry forms appear to be available at the moment, something that I will do my best to have rectified as soon as possible !

Hi Keith,
I've managed to get hold of an electronic copy today and have passed it to Sav to put up on the AEBBA website. Should be available shortly.

Hopefully, they will now extend the closing date then (which is shown as yesterday on the Entry Form! :o) to allow a few more people to enter. 8-) Well spotted ! And the change in entry fee too ! And you are right, the first time anyone had seen a form was at last weekend's SCBBA I'league. Of course, the close date will have to be extended, and I would expect entries to be accepted right up to the date the draw will be performed, which would be our next Committee Meeting (Thurs 26th March). Keith-
If Pauline etc would prefer not to wait for the form to appear on here, I will be willing to send them a downloadable version by eMail Just PM me with the eMail address to send to.

After my extended trip to South Africa, I'm still not up to date with everything that has been posted on the boards.
I've just seen this for the first time, I would very much like to take one of the bye or vacated places if that is still possible.

Entry will be extended in case and until the 'Byes' can be filled, and they will go into the draw to replace the Byes in chronological order of late entry received. As of last night we had lost another lady from the line-up, and nobody had come forward to fill the Byes, so - Ros - you're in. Just turn up on Sunday with your cue (and entry fee) 11.30am at the Frenches.

A stupendous last event was held at the Frenches Club today. Lorraine Hall is the new British Isles Ladies Open Champion - she beat Jean Brackenridge in a very close final. (Scores to be added later, but from a spectator's point of view Lorraine led by 7k to 3k in the first leg and in the second one Jean had 7k on the board before Lorraine staged a comeback. As the bar went, a count-up was made and it was found that Lorraine was just 150 behind. She kept her cool to pot the last few balls that remained to lift the Championship.)
In the Semi-finals of the Plate, Sandra Race beat Ros Appleby and Denise Wills beat Lorraine Hamlin to make for a tense and entertaining final with Sandra triumphant over Denise.
In the Main competition Semi-final, Lorraine (Hall) staged another one of her magnificent comebacks to beat the title-holder, Oxford's Pauline Withey who held a 7k advantage from the first leg. Jean beat Hayley Tunstall in the other Semi. Jean also took the trophy for the highest break of the day.
Further details to follow.

Just to add some words of thanks regarding the last-ever one-day event staged at the Frenches Club, which closes for ever next month.
Grateful thanks to the Frenches Club staff, to Colin and his team of caterers; To Brian and Tony for the supply of tables, to those who arrived early to set them up, and to the table sponsors; To Caroline and David Jones on the Admin Desk for arranging the format and running it to a smooth schedule; to those who kindly donated prizes for the raffle; To Pauline Withey, Jenny Abbott and Melissa Standbridge who made the long journey down from Oxford to play; And last but not least to my Redhill teammate Gary Powell who worked his socks off all weekend.
