Play starts at midday (prompt !) tomorrow and finishes around 8pm.
This is a fun competition, held annually at the Limes, South Merstham (great pub) for Redhill League members and a limited number of special guests.
The entry is hopefully 48, and for the Draw beforehand every name goes into a hat for either Pool A, Pool B or Pool C dependent on skill level. Each of the 16 Triples thus drawn at random is put into one of four groups, and you play against the other 3 triples in your group, then there's quarterfinals, semifinals and the grand Final. And of course a Plate competition.
The C-rated player in the combi has 1st break in first prelim game, the B player first go in the 2nd game and the A player goes first in the 3rd game. At all times 2000 is the maximum break, if you go over you not only lose the break but have to wear a dunce's/clown's/donkey hat until someone else does similar or has a black peg to take it off you.
Always a great day with lots of see-sawing in fortune (and ee-awing !) and the inevitable great banter.
Well, it was indeed a great day, bar billiards both competitive and at times light-hearted with much banter and the occasional bit of barracking !
The clown's hat changed hands several times and was seen on the following heads : Trish, Iain M, Baz, the Reaper, Fritz (twice) and Bobbie. But Colin Robbins led the way by exceeding the maximum permitted break of 3,000. Doesn't do to get too greedy ! ;D
A full transcript of the day with all the scores will be made available soon, but meanwhile congratulations to the following 'proper' award winners:
Winners: Dave Constable, Genette Nicholls and Sharon Ward; Runners-up: Dave Ingram, Alan Nicholls and Angie Turner.
Winners: Gary Powell, Iain Mountain and Margo Thompson; Runners-up : Keith Wilkinson, Frank Doyle and Aaron Hill.
Thanks to Jason for his organisation of this super event. 8-)

Many thanks to Jason and everybody involved in organising and running the event, the staff at the Limes who were great hosts, Colin Robbins for his usual high quality catering..... and to my two partners (Alan & Angie) who both played superbly all day! ;D ;)
