Surrey sent four competitors to the 2008 'Kent Classic' (Open) and punched above their weight, two of them making it to the last 16 stage.
These were Richard Plaw and Jim Greenstead.
Keith Wilkinson and Clive Thompson went out a round earlier, having won their first games.
Kevin Hall of Sussex who also plays in the Redhill League, was another who made it to the last 16 stage.
The main competition was won by England Number 1 Kevin Tunstall over Number 2 Nigel Senior. The Plate final was contested by England regulars Keith Sheard and Paul Sainsbury, with Paul running up a huge target, only to see Keith overhaul it - but only after Paul had had a further chance to put it beyond reach.
A great day, the next Open now appearing over the horizon being Bucks.
