Hello you!!!!
I had heard a rumour we had some "old-timers" joining us - that's great. Can't wait to see you on the 24th.
My God - have you been playing in sunny Yorkshire? Just think, you're going to get maximum handicap!!!!! :o
Don't expect too much of a reply from Redhill on this board Martin, it's only Tommo and myself really (that you know anyway)! Redhill hasn't moved into the technological age yet. ;) ::)
Look forward to chatting more with you!
Josie x

not so much of the 'old timers' thank you, not playing in yorkshire, no tables. Have a couple of games every 6 months or so when I come down south, can still rattle in a decent break, look forward to seeing you Josie.

Hi Martin,
You're still one of only a handful of bar billiards people who have been seen on telly. 8-) And you should have won the prize money, you were stitched up. >:(
Anyways, will be good to see you once again for your twice-yearly foray into these parts.
Will have a word with your captain to see if you can play off scratch. ;) ;D

A great day as usual at the Frenches Club. And full of incident. It was good to see Martin Pellett down on his twice-yearly jaunt down from Leeds. And Dave Bewey made the effort to take part, having travelled up from Hastings. 8-) There were several candidates for the Mr Kipling "biggest tart" award - but more of that later......... ;)
The competition itself went right down to the wire, the County side having three players on in the final round of games. Only one came through - how, I'll never know, but it secured the win on equal points but on a countback of total score.
Final table with players who took part (scores for the day are on Dave and Caroline's laptop and may or may not find their way onto the RDBBL website):
21 pts COUNTY SIDE (Jan Taylor, Geoff Jukes, Laurie Roberts, Paul Reece, Pat Smither, Clive Thompson, Gary Powell) 21 pts PRESIDENTS SELECT (Dave Constable, Vernon Sparkes, Jimmy Greensted, Ian Greensted, Dave Bewey, Tony Cross, Simon Newman) 20 pts CHAIRMANS SELECT (Martin Pellett, Brian Soper, John Keen, Pete Howes, Mick Blaney, Wendy Blaney, Colin Robbins) 19 pts 'B'LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDE (Neil Byles, Colin Frost, Barry Hood, Shuana Nicholls, Mick Donaldson, John Wallace, David Jones) 15 pts 'A'LEAGUE REPRESENTATIVE SIDE (Mark Fraser, Anita Blackman, Frank Doyle, Fiona Doyle, Paul Trottman, Graham Holman, Kevin Hall) 9 pts LADIES TEAM (Sheila King, Caroline Jones, Denise Wills, Sue Oakley, Sally Mortimer, Josie Pitt, Sharron Balcombe)
Now for the aforementioned incidents. I don't know what they put into the water at Redhill, but sexual innuendo seemed rife on the day. Flirting was cranked up a gear, to the level of sexual harrassment.
You come to expect it of Vernon, and Jan Taylor and Sally Mortimer seemed to be the main favoured recipients of his attentions, but this guy has eyes in the back of his head ! He was suddenly aware, before anyone else, of a lady in an extremely low-cut black dress who had just walked in, and at the time he was potting away on the table ! :o
Then there was the surprisingly salacious behaviour of two of the ladies, Denise and Sheila. Jimmy Greenstead claimed that Denise groped his ar$e while they were playing - she couldn't resist it apparently - and I witnessed first-hand Sheila tugging at the slacks of both Laurie AND Denise. There was some doubt apparently as to whether Denise had "gone commando", but she was sporting a thong - allegedly.
And poor Laurie, trying to win the vital last frame for the County, had both of them on to him. He was nudged, caressed, groped and buffeted on every shot, had the cue slid between the legs treatment, and was sledged between and during shots. :o Somehow he managed to keep a sensible game going, and even the miscues turned out to be winning shots. He was even goaded into playing the 400 shot at the end when he didn't need it - and he got it - so well done to him in triumphing against all adversity. 8-)
