Looking forward to what is always a great day, be nice to see some old faces and hopefully new. See you there Clive. Is my information right that it could be the last one at the Frenches. TJ.

Yes, your source of information appears to be sound, TJ.
The water board who own the club have imposed a dramatic increase in rent and at the moment no membership renewals are being accepted. I'd better add "allegedly".
It is all the more sad because the League will be finding it difficult to come up with a venue that can fit eight tables in for our special competitions.
At the moment the only one I can think of is the Reigate Ex-Services Club, which - allegedly again - is somewhat lacking in atmosphere.
Where there's a will there's a way though, and you may rest assured that Surrey will not want to give up its regular events of long-standing.
See you Sunday, it will probably be a topic of conversation then.

Lets hope it can be sorted as talk of a Redhill open was much welcome, and as to atmosphere know all about that playing at the Windmill in Brighton and Worthing.

Surrey Open will take place one day, TJ, and keeps getting aired at committee level. I keep pressing, and am thrown the odd snippet of information now and again. The latest I've been able to wring out of anyone is that a suitable venue is the only stumbling block - somewhere nice like the golf club where Bucks held theirs last year. The first choice was a stately home, and the second was a school. Both fell through, but maybe third time lucky next year.
Still we're not doing bad on the Open front - the brand new Guernsey one in May, and talk of the Northants reinstating theirs.

Once again, a good and exciting day and thanks on behalf of the Redhill League to all who gave up their day to take part and make this event a success.
I can only provide a brief report, but Caroline has promised to forward her Excel sheet so I can put up a full transcript with scores, etc.
Just to say, then, that early form was reversed, in Group One Portsmouth A and Worthing making the early running, and Mid Sussex in Group Two, but the four semi-finalists who emerged were Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Redhill A and Redhill B.
Though both being 1-2 down in their Semi-Finals, Tunbridge Wells managed to turn it round against Brighton, and Redhill A the same against their own 'B' string.
That left the Final, which was eventually decided in favour of the hosts........
Team lineups: Tun Wells (R-up) : Martin Leach, Peter Sainsbury, Bryan Stevens, Doug Phillips, Martin Russell, Paul Sainsbury, Vinny Mitchell
Redhill A (Wnrs) : Vernon Sparkes, Gary Powell, Jason Wadsworth, David Jones, Paul Reece, Geoff Jukes, Dave Constable.

An excellent well organised day and well done to Redhill A on their win, once again agreat standard of bar billiards on fair tables that presented varying challanges.
Thanks to the bar staff for their hard work, and to Terry Oakley for the catering which again was high class and reasonable.
