Laughing Fish 3 Bridge 2
Bill Kerr 0 - 2,980* Marcus Chipman Dave Ingram 11,710* - 2,020 Alan Brackenridge Henry Brooks 6,190 - 5,600* Kevin Stoner Tony Jenner 6,210* - 0 Brian Muggeridge Ron Sheridan 960 - 3,610* Kevin Hall
Terrific evening in great company, the pick of the games undoubtedly Henry chasing down Little Legs 2k plus lead right at the end with a good break, Kev having played superbly to keep Henry off the table before that. 8-)
Plenty of atmosphere in the pub tonight with the folk singers and dancers giving it their all, lovely pork "chucket" to eat.... and, for the benefit of one of our visitors (who shall go unnamed), yes it DID contain pork! ::) ;D ;D
Our first League Cup title in Lewes League.... a big thank you to all of the team who have played so well to win the games this year, to the League for running the competition and also to the Laughing Fish who have looked after us so well this season. 8-) ;D
Congratulations to the Star Eastbourne who finished as runner-up in their first year in the League, commiserations to the Bridge who narrowly missed out this time. ;)

Excellent evening against the Bridge as usual, well done us, and nice to beat Bridge at laest on the one occassion this season. We were all hoping that the dancers on the wooden floors would help the balls drop, but that did not seem to happen.
Third game was the crux with kev seemingly in charge, but Henry put on the turbo boosters when he got the break back.
Been a good competition and I know it has its knockers but always good to play an off the spot competition within the league for a change. Would look at how the 3k and off rule works as some games are won effectively from the opening break and touch up, might be worth considering even breaks and still 3k max as this would at least give the second player an even chance.

I agree that the Committee do need to consider something if they run the same type of competition next year... the advantage is too heavily weighted in favour of the player with the break, especially if they touch up and leave the balls awkward. Perhaps either even breaks or a "catch-up" Rule allowing a player to chase down a score, with maybe a restriction of not going more than 3k in front? That would mean that players were always in with a chance, rather than the current situation of being unable to catch up even if you get the break back.
