It is difficult to know whether to put in a 'late' entry as there has been no confirmation that the entry for myself and Stephen Coleman has been received!! When will the list be updated?

Have spoken to organiser Gary and he confirms having received yours and Stephen's entries. An updated list will probably be posted by Richard Plaw tomorrow after he and Gary have had a chance to compare notes tonight.

Hi Guys I gave Gary Powell my £10 last night at interleague for entry to the Surrey Open, however have just realised I have a Christening to go to. Therefore please do not enter me !! If I could have my £10 back that would be appreciated. Thank you Richard Hi Richard, Gary confirms that you are entitled to a refund and will get this back to you by the most convenient method (probably via Nigel). Regards, tommo

An updated list will probably be posted by Richard Plaw tomorrow after he and Gary have had a chance to compare notes tonight. List updated now to help allay further panics........We think there are three more from Surrey to go on, who Richard P hasn't mentioned as they have yet to pay. Please note there will be a change to the usual catering arrangements: the canteen will be shut - sorry Lewis, no butterscotch tart - :'( but a mobile caterer will be parked outside the hall, available for the duration.

Those are probably the three that Gary was 'uncertain about' when trying to reconcile 72 v 75 in numbers.
Gary reads this so I'm sure it will be all right.
A further update to the list is due from Richard P. tomorrow.

Entries now total 80 81 82, which means there are still potentially 16 15 14 vacancies. If anyone else wants to meet the deadline, best now to phone Gary (his telephone details are as shown on the entry form).
Could we remind last year's winners of the perpetual trophies * to bring them along with you to this year's event. Thank you. * (2011 winner: K.T.; runner-up: Steven Sheard; Plate: Gary Powell; runner-up: Roger Taylor.)

News bulletin on the 4th Surrey Open, played today:
The last eight in the Main competition were: Tony Webster (bt Ian Gordon); Dave Jones (bt Jim Greensted); Chris Saville (bt Steven Sheard); Keith Sheard (bt Laurie Roberts); Gerry Fitzjohn (bt Phil Collins); Kevin Tunstall (bt Paul Sainsbury); Curt Driver (bt Nigel Senior); Andy Farmer-Wright (bt Henry Brooks).
This disguises some of the earlier drama......Dave Ingram had scored a personal best break of 17,720 - only to see it overhauled by Paul Sainsbury's 18k; and I timed Fast-Track Phil Collins at 1600 a minute in what what proved to a futile chase.
To follow on: a classic final saw Keith Sheard crowned 4th Surrey Open champion, after beatimg Tony Webster in the Semi and Kevin Tunstall (S/final victor over Curt Driver) in the final. KT opened with 16k leaving some time at the end for Keith who reduced the deficit by 2k. Knowing he could not afford to miss, Keith then played out the second leg (with just one anxious moment) for 17k.
The Plate was competitive too, and included two ladies in the last four lineup: Kevin Hall beat Jean Brackenridge but last year's plate winner Gary Powell was overcome by Denise Wills. Kevin went on to win, the margin being 3.5k in both legs.
A great day and the usual thankyous to all those involved with the organising who helped to make it thus.

Yup, well done to the organisers and workers, the double cheeseburgers were luvly!!
Nice to attend a County Open for the first time in a few years, but was a little disappointed that support seems to have decreased since my last County Open, especially with a central and easy to get to venue.
Pleased that my own form has returned this year with the improvement in my eyes, my first competition run-out for a while (sorry Steven) before suffering a 'Milko Mullering'.
Well done to our forum Moderator!!

Wow!!...Where did that performance come from ?
After suffering problems with my game recently (The One-Up) and causing me to think of taking a year or so out of entering Opens, then this win comes along. :o 8-) This is my first Surrey Open win and one that I’m very pleased to win because I lost in the final three years ago.
May I thank the organisers (Dave, Caroline, Gary, Colin (bar) and the rest of the team for another well run event and can I apologise for forgetting to bring the R/Up trophy back that Steven picked up last year, I will give it to KT at the Sussex Open.
Keith

Well done Milko. nobody has mentioned your quater final match when you had plenty of practice of one up's & splits to get to a score of 18,000 without a single break shot.
I didn't see it but wished I had.
please can you show me that some time. ;D

Well done to Keith playing so well on tables I found to be very hard. A few people probably overheard me getting very wound up, I do apologise!
That aside, I would like to thank the organisers once again for a very well run day.
I just need to learn the secret to why people like these Jelkes thingies so much...:P

Sav Chris, there were 88 entries in the end (only 4 down on last year), of which at least 10 failed to turn up, so, I think that's a good total for an Open these days. Keith

Proof of the pudding will be Sussex which closes its entry at 108 and is usually over-subscribed.
Surrey sets its limit at 96, and was noticeable in having a few gaps, but they were mostly local people.

Think we will struggle for 108 as there is no Guernsey international which normally gives us 10-12 extra players.

108 or 96 - If only !!!! We usually only get between 70 and 75(if we are lucky). Which is a shame as we have a pretty good venue and the tables are usually pretty good.
Well done Milko !!
