The ancient Jelkes BB table I bought recently had some moth in the baize so I thought I would strip the baize out of the ball channels too. After spraying with insecticide (ugh) I relined the runners with this stuff. It looks very good, easy to use but only time will tell if it is hard wearing enough.
It was called Sticky Backed Green Baize Velour Fablon (very Blue Peter ;D) and is item 190645593527 on Ebay.

Good spot Tony,
I religned the terribly moth eaten runners on a table last week with baize and impact adhesive. I used almost a full tub of adhesive plus splitting side cushion covers in two, so a tenner's worth of that fabric doesn't look bad and should wear well.
Did it stick to the wood OK? does it look like its going to stay stuck?
Update in a couple of moths months would be appreciated.

The thought of all that Evostick made me look very hard for an alternative Sav!
It does seem to stick well to the wood and is quite tacky when you remove the backing - I think the bond will get stronger as it dries more. It's high quality stuff for the price (German) and gives a lovely finish and it's easy to cut into nooks and crannies. They show a picture of a pool table on the label and it would be interesting to recover a table with it and see how it plays! ;D
It's in my cold and damp garage at the moment (and will be for a couple more weeks) so I'll let you know if it starts causing problems. I did put some basic adhesive at strategic points in a belt and braces approach.
cheers Tony

Thanks for the tip, Tony. Our runners need doing too so I've just bought a sheet.
Any recommendations for thin rubber bungs/plugs for when the balls bounce into the tray ?
I have been obliged to use foam sheet to deaden the sound for late at night use (don't want to wake the neighbours !)

I think that's what BB Ltd used to use anyway but Sav may know better.. Tony

Yup, I use any old carpet I have, prefer solid backed as it's easier to glue.

The vinyl sheet arrived prompty, and today I got round to relining the runners - ably assisted by my grandaughter Jessica (who is on half term and was looking to earn some pin money). For the buffer stops I had managed to get hold some of these: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/38-WOOD-LAMINATE-FLOOR-FURNITURE-PROTECTOR-STICKY-FELT-PADS-/380417381834?pt=UK_Flooring&hash=item5892a495caFor just over a quid you get a large square (Which I got Jess to measure out and cut into nine equal pads) and nine circles along with a load of (superfluous) smaller ones. Nine of everything for the nine channels ! It was then just a case of pressing these firmly into place and I must say the final effects are aesthetically pleasing compared with the tatty old foam I had used previously. 8-)
