I have received instructions from Colin Robbins to advertise the following:
Teams for the annual Surrey Inter-League 1-Day event, to be held this year on Sat 12th May (11.30am for 12noon start):
A League representative side (Richard Plaw organising); B League representative side (Iain Mountain organising); President/Chairman's select VII (Gary Powell organising); Redhill Ladies 'A' team (Denise Wills organising); Redhill Ladies 'B' team (Denise Wills organising); Mens County team (Tony Cross organising); 'Guest' team 1: Lewes - confirmed, Dave Ingram 'Guest' team 2: (1st choice) Oxon declined; (2nd choice) Horsham/Billingshurst - confirmed Adam Kuzimski.
Handicaps based on current league average - or as appropriate, with any Surrey Mens County players playing off 'Scratch'. £4 'table money' to be collected from each player. Everyone gets 7 games.
A fun day is anticipated: Redhill Ladies usually treat this as a gala occasion and one can only speculate as to what they will come up with this year ! :o

I understand that the theme this year will be "Doctors and Nurses", so I'm sure that the Redhill Ladies will be looking forward to that! :o 8-) ;D

Oxon have politely declined, so the second 'Guest' slot has been offered to a combined Horsham/Billingshurst team. Interleague captains Adam Kuzimski and Ding Johnson have been handed the details and will report back in due course.

A really memorable day again, plenty of competitive bar billiards as well as fun and barracking, and I'm sure I speak for both the Guest teams (Horsham and Lewes) when I say it was great to be welcomed into the bosom of Surrey Bar Billiards. ;)
This year the theme was Doctors and Nurses and both ladies and the men entered into the spirit of the occasion with some authentic and convincing costumes - some looking they had came straight from the pathology lab !
Once again off-putting tactics were employed, various stages of undress sometimes being the order of the day, and I am sure some very interesting photos may be surfacing on here soon if the blackmail money isn't paid. ;D I shall be particularly interested to see the one which looked like four bald heads together at the back of table 4 !
A raffle raised over £250 for cancer charities.
Anyway a big thank you to the organisers, table suppliers, Colin Robbins and Angie for the bar; and well done once again to Dave and Caroline for running a good tournament to a strict schedule, to master of ceremonies Gary Powell, and thanks also to Bill Kerr for selling the raffle tickets.
And not to forget the Redhill Ladies for providing a lovely selection of gateaux on sale at reasonable price - a nice touch.
Full details of the day's play are to follow, hopefully, but at this stage all I can remember is that the Mens County team retained the trophy and that Horsham (skilfully skippered by Adam Kuzimski) were surprise runners-up. 8-)
