Just about to install the old (?) eight track Jelkes I bought from the Owl and Compass into the Masons at North Leigh. Recovered with Strachan WofE 6811, reused original and beautiful dark red pockets (don't talk to me about plaster of paris!), fitted new cushion rubbers, replaced pocket pads, relined the runners and buffers, rebuilt the ball tray with thicker ply base, cleaned and adjusted the timer (superficially), completely stripped the top rails, the back plate and the ball tray to the bare elm or mahogany and restained to match the very dark mahogany of the rest of the table (2x mahogany, 1x walnut Colron stain), revarnished the whole thing x2 or x5, replaced the black bit with rexine (not sure about that yet - very 'sticky' when you play off the top) and made some more little numbers for the backboard and ball tray. Set it up in my garage quickly and had an 8K+ break at first serious attempt - plays like a proper old-fashioned table with no idiosyncrasies yet! Very pleased with it and many thanks to my table mentor (Sav) for guidance ;D. I shall quite miss it!! cheers Tony

Very impressive, Tony. I would say that the way it gleams it looks "good as new". Or rather, like a vintage car that has been restored to former glory. Made around 1934, so good for another 77 years at least !
