Another very enjoyable evening with the laughing fish crowd, we played amazingly well to get it to the tie break after being 4-1 down from the first leg, but it wasn't to be, Dave played a very good game and deserved the victory.
Massive thanks to my team for entering the competition and i'm sure we will be back next year.
Well done to the laughing fish, deserved it over the two legs and good luck in the next round.

Indeed a great evening, thanks to the Ashburnham for their hospitality, and the landlord for the food. Had us on the ropes, and we were looking dead and buried, but this old bugger managed to remember how to ply, and set up a decider, Dave opening with 3k and thinking, not enough but Roy had one not on the spot properly and of at about 1.5k, Dave then made sure.
Fitting end to a good contest and hope we will see the Ashburnham in future competitions, and lets hope your experience will encourage more teams into the Watney Mann.

Now have the semifinal teams, I know Dave and Colin are arranging dates already, and that Kevin has spoken to the Duke of Wellington to try and arrange their semi, so will let all know the dates when available.

Hi Watney Man fans,
Laughing fish v The Star played at The fish 30/08/12 first leg
Bill Kerr 11190 v 720 Peter Payne Jim Millwood 3680 v 4650 Martin Crowhurst Tony Jenner 3410 v 6610 Phil Osborne Dave Ingram 12720 v 880 Stewart Chant Henry Brooks 4690 v 9330 Colin Southouse
All games went with the break in the end but there were a few chances available to most combatants. The star carry a well earned 3-2 lead into the next leg to be played Sunday.
PS our mascot ozzie senior looked like taking the high away break in the friendy with "the pub Landlord" Ron but missed the red on the break, luckily no one saw it as tucker was up ::)
Nice supper in a friendly atmosphere

Indeed a great night at the Star, close fought and once again I gave our skipper the pressure of a decider, in very different circumstances after getting back and in front only to put one behind the 10 and miss it.
Phil played a great game against Bill opening with enough to seal his victory. Ron kept his head and nerve to win his, Dave took control of the first and Jim settled down on his second visit.
Must say thanks to the Star team for two entertaining nights and to the landlord for the pizzas.

White Hart (New Sussex A) 2 Albion (Duke of Wellington) 3
Had a feeling there would be some good breaks on the White Hart table last night. Good draw for us, but didn`t take our chances when given them.
Geoff J. 11920 v 0 Ian L. - No sooner had Geoff got his drink and potted a couple of practice balls, found he had been switched to first coz of late arrivals. This worked in his favour though as he opened up with a steady 9020. Ian pegged and Geoff finished off. ;D 1-0
Nipper 2360 v 8000 Richard W. - Richard off quite early, Martin got them back but got caught out by a slight roll when up the table. Richard then sealed the game with 6k :-/. 1-1
Chocie 4630 v 7790 Marcus C. - Marcus opened with under 2k, Stu got them back but he then thinned a split. Marcus then made enough for the frame. :-X :P 1-2
Foxy 11920 v 1300 Nigel S. - Superb opener from Jim, 11770, levelled the match ;D. 2-2
Sir KT 4850 v 10030 Gareth L. - Excellent opening break from Gareth, 10k, never looked like missing until he spun the split out sideways on 5k, quite close to the peg :-X :-/. I finished off with 4k+. 2-3
So , all to play for still at the Albion tonight ;)

Duke of Wellie (Albion) 2 New Sussex (White Hart) 3
Amazing night at the Albion with the White Hart coming back from 5-2 down to force the decider ;)
Nigel 12170 v 0 Chocie - Rocky start for Nige but Stu couldn`t take advantage. Nige then made an 8k break for the win. 1-0
Ian L. 6900 v 2620 Geoff - rematch of Mondays game, this time quite scrappy. Geoff could never get going and Ian eventually made a useful break. 2-0
Gareth 500 v 7260 Nipper - If ever there was a pressure game, this one fitted the bill. Martin has been struggling with his game a bit but came through last night on an unforgiving table. Opened with a steady 3k and made another 3k late on ;D Well done partner
2-1
Marcus 2480 v 9270 Sir KT - Against the break for the second night running but this time I got an early chance. Marcus came off under 2k and when I got them back, made an 8k break. Game on :P 2-2
Mario 1630 v 4430 Foxy - Another crucial win for Foxy, although not the 12k from the night before, a 4k break with as much importance. Steve always on the back foot and when chasing Jim`s 4k lead, whipped and pegged with about 2 minutes to go. 2-3
Decider
Nigel 7300 v 8680 Sir KT - I opened with 8300 in 9+ minutes, Nige replied with 7300 and broke down when looking like another coin would be needed. So 6-5 to us and another chance to defend our title, this time against the Laughing Fish.
