The Guernsey summer league make a reappearance this season. Run as an individual league there are 14 players this year. All matches are a double game with a point for each and an extra point for the score.
All games will be held at the Rangers club starting tuesday the 22nd May. There are now 2 tables at the Rangers which should help increase the banter on billiard night.
It is £10 to enter with the 1st and 2nd taking the prize fund.
FYI the second table at the Rangers club is a bit tricky past the 50's so make sure you get some practice in.

My prediction is for the Iceman to take it. I think that Tom and champ though will be in close pursuit.
It will be difficult though as Bob C and Terry Kenny should never be written off.
Both tables are playing pretty well at the moment. There could be some big scores.

And you say i'm being cagey picking 5 I think we will decide the title but not win it
Its great that Mr Wilson has entered. I have a new idea for a monday night league. Team Pairs. 4 aside with the pairs picked at random during the night. 2 games per pairing 1 point per game 1 point for the pair score + 1 point for the team overall score
that would give 7 points up for grabs each week. This would hopefully get people to attract mates to start playing

Tuesday the 22nd May
Roy Le Page 1 Norman Wilkinson 2 Darren Ogier 1 Ian Champion 2 Terry Kenny 1 Paul le Gallez 2 Andy Rundle 3 Tom Oliver 0 Bob Le moignan 1 Luke Oliver 2 Darren Ogier 2 Bob Chapple 1 Ian Champion 3 Roy Le Page 0
Who let Champs take a table home. Now installed as the equal favorite with the Iceman. Ian destroyed normal team mate Roy Le Page with a stunning performance on the table of death.
It Wasn't a good night for Roy as he suffered a nail biting defeat to the Stormin. WIth roy having what should of been the advantage of his normal table. Norman though was in fine form to edge this one.
The returning Terry kenny was put to the sword by the disapearing Mr Le Gallez. here one minute gone the next. Never mind more burgers for the boys curtesy of the Rangers club.
The young apprentice Luke Oliver edged a thriller against Jedi master Bob le moignan. These normal stable mates showed each other no respect as they competed for those vital points. With a points difference of only 260 to separate them

Yes, it was a very competitive first nights play, and the winner of this league will have to be very adaptable as the two tables on offer are so different. I predict the eventual winner will be one of five from the home Rangers team. A few markers were laid down last evening and having a break each will make the games more tactical and interesting, many to be decided on fine margins like last evening. Well done to Darren for getting this league underway and thanks to the lovely Barmaid Katie :-* for the yummy snacks.

Champs has made a very impressive start by beating two contenders. Guernsey Masters winner Iceman showed his cool also with an impressive 3-0 demolition of The Guernsey Open runner up Tom Oliver. With Gary Naftel and Terry Girard still to play, it could all change next week.

Hi
Summer league Barbilliard league results
29/05/12
Pete Wilson 0 Terry Giirard 3 Gary Naftel 3 Darren Ogier 0 Pete Wilson 0 Darren Ogier 3 Paul Le Gallez 0 Tom Oliver 3 Terry Kenny 3 Norman Wilkinson 0 Andy Rundle 3 Luke Oliver 0 Bob Le Moignan 0 Bob Chapple 3
The Iceman remains the strong favorite as he teachers the young pretender a lesson in art of Billiards. Last week the young pretender managed a good victory against the Jedi master but was not at the races and the iceman kept his cool on the way to a 3-0 victory.
Kain was looking to shake up a storm in his return to the billiard scene. Last week he found his feet and it showed as Stormin was blown away in a 3 - 0 victory.
The pres was back to winning ways as he returned a 3-0 win against Lord Lucan. Although there early the lord soon disappeared and looking at his performance it looks as though he disappeared even earlier this week.
The Jedi master is having a rough time of it at the moment as the bullet played so fast not even the master could keep up with this scoring speed. With the most convincing display in this years league he scored a speedy 16690.
The Rookie and EL tel made their season debut. El tel showed his class and beat the young rookie up on the table. Not even letting the young boy have a chance. The Rookie in his 1st ever season will get better though. Maybe the tap water was too strong for him.
Although top of the league albeit playing 2 more games than anyone else Oge was pipped at the post by normal team mate for the breakaways by Number 1 (that what it says on his tee shirt). a 3-0 win makes him join the long list of favorites.
Oge made up for his loss with a 3-0 win against the Rookie. The rookie though made a fatal mistake when going for the 100 at the end when a 200 would of earned him a 1/2 point. The rookie though was greatly improved from his debut

In the absence of a sensible report from Darren 'Oge ' Ogier, here is a summary of the evenings proceedings, minus the scores. Scores to be confirmed later.
" All characters appearing in this work are fictitious. Any resemblance to real persons, living or dead is purely coincidental. The wording of this disclaimer differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, as does its legal effectiveness". ::)
Terry Kenny 0 Bob Chapple 3 Showing no mercy to his former teammate, Bob Church ruthlessly took all three points in this encounter between veterans from the old Rohais team. Both players remember when a game cost sixpence and a pint cost one shilling. However, all previous friendships were set aside, with Bob ruthlessly claiming all three points to confirm his serious intentions of being a contender for this Individual summer league title.
Andy Rundle 3 Norman 0 Still smarting from his defeat in the Island singles, Judas showed no mercy to his former teammate. Like the Iceman, he kept his cool after a poor opening break, and overcame a 2K deficit to win the first game convincingly. The Storm faded away and missed opportunities in his break game, leaving Andy deservedly to claim the spoils and a 100% record this season.
Pete Wilson 0 Bob Chapple 3 Bob completed a good night with six points against the ever improving Newbie. Pete showed some good touches and every game he plays shows new undiscovered skills. Not so much an easy touch as some people may think and destined to cause a few shocks and surprise a few players in this league.
Bob Le Moignan 2 Terry Girard 1 The game of the night if not the game of the season so far. El Tel walked the first one, and looked favourite to claim all 3 points with over 5k in the first. However the former world pairs Champ, Jedi Master was having none of that ! He put in a stunning performance in the second with two breaks over 2k. Kept his head under pressure when the bar dropped, and ran out a deserved aggregate winner over the two legs to record a 2-1 victory.
Strangely no one from the home team Rangers here tonight. Many thanks to Katie kept the bar open and beers flowing as well as providing the lovely sarnies ;D

Bob Chapple 3 Ian Champion 0
In a re arranged game could the champs catch the bullet. With Champs on his beloved home table his hopes were high. On this occasion his name didn't live up to the result. Although Champ ran the bullet close in the 1st game against the break. Champs was unable to do anything of note as he lost 4410 & 4480 to 3810 & 830
Terry Kenny 3 Terry Girard 0
With Kain now back into full swing there appears to be not stopping this man. El Tel just could not getting going and lost heavily to the former summer league champ. 5050 & 7760 v 1470 & 290
Bob Le Moignan 0 Darren Ogier 3
With the Jedi master full of confidence after his brilliant fight back last week the pressure was always on Oge. After traveling the Northern territory of France with no Billiard table in sight Mr Oge had to find his form quickly. After a good start Oge was off and the Jedi Master plugged away top close the deficit. Narrowly losing the 1st The Jedi set about with great skill and mastery to push ahead in match. In the closing moments though with some luck Oge managed to return to the break and close out the game for victory. 1410 & 2600 v 2790 & 3810
Paul Le Gallez 0 Norman Wilkinson 3
Stormin blew in late claiming a typo in his fixture list. However this late arrival only set about unsettling Lord Lucan. Although the Lord had been away he was finally seen to be practicing for a good hour or 2 on the infamous table. This did him no good though as the Stormin pipped the 1st game and cruised the second.
1230 & 610 v 1510 & 1980
The last game of the night saw the Iceman play the champs. The table was now playing mind games with the 2 players. Although champs has previously scored over 10k on this table he blew his opening break and the Iceman kept his cool as comfortably took the 1st against the break. Game 2 though was a different matter champ determined not to be beaten by the table or his opponent and inflicted the Iceman 1st defeat of the season.
1980 & 1170 v 390 & 2890
The Bullet now holds a 3 point lead at the top of the table over the Iceman who has a game in hand.
With the devil table taking a turn for the worse a solution will be put in place shortly

Paul Le Gallez 0 Ian Champion 3 2630 & 290 v 4440 & 8540
With England due to play Tuesday night the league was moved to a Monday. Lord Lucan was missing again as he was unable to make the Monday. The Lord and Champs managed to play their games though. With Champs heading to second on the league as it appears Lord Lucan went missing during the game as he only managed to score 2920 over 2 games. Champs though looks to become Sumer league champs-Ion for the 1 st time
Bon Chapple 2 Luke Oliver 1 4960 & 2470 v 2010 & 4960 The Bullet is now the strong favourite as he races into a 5 point lead at the top of the league albeit playing 1 more than those around him. The Young pretender though will be happy with his second game performance as he becomes the only person to take a game off the Bullet. The Bullet went off to a flier in the 1st and scored an impressive 4960. The Pretender came back with 2010 but was never going to compete with the speed of the bullet.
Darren Ogier 1 Terry Kenny 2 4820 & 1950 v 1720 & 8150 Oge elected to take the 1st break and headed into a 4k lead before leaving the break short and letting kane to the table. Oge managed to keep the advantage and take the 1st game. Kane though who has not played for 2 seasons showed his old skills to knock in over 8k. Oge did have a chance to catch the aggregate score put with just under 2k again left the break short and miss a chance to beat the ever improving Kane.
Tom Oliver 3 Terry Girard 0 3410 & 4060 v 470 & 2850 The Pres makes a rare appearance as he returns from a bad back. The break appears not to of hampered his performance though as he showed a pair of heels to El Tel. El Tel appearing to bring out the best in his opponents as he has now struggled in the last 3 weeks. Never write off this Island player though as i am sure he will come gunning for his next opponent. The Pres now has couple of games to catch up and could be threat to the top players.
Pete Wilson 0 Norman Wilkinson 3 80 & 240 v 1850 & 2240 The rookie struggled in this one. Although look to create a Storm and pick his 1st points of the season. Stormin though was the only likely winner as he kept the storm clouds away and proceeded to an easy victory.
Pete Wilson 0 Roy Le page 3 1110 & 440 v 1460 & 2500 This was almost turned into a TAXI moment for Roy as the rookie pushed hard in this rearranged game. With the last ball able to decide the victory the rookie was unable to convert the 200 shot and Roy Le Taxi sneaked the 1st. The rookie though was unable to re create the thriller of the 1st as Roy Le Taxi took this one at a canter.
Bob Le Moignan 1 Roy le Page 2 60 & 2520 V 4160 & 1540 The Jedi master was unable to conjure up any mind control over Le Taxi in the 1st game and was scored possible the one of the lowest scores in his long career. Le Taxi must of felt so good he could of been mistaken to thinking he had robbed another poor punter. Game 2 though was a different matter as Jedi tricks seemed to be on display as although Le Taxi seemed of cash in on the fare before the end of the journey. With a 1500 lead on the table of death he was then unable to increase his score. Somehow though through persistence Jedi tricks or just good play the master pushed ahead to take the second game.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we lost 2 players from the league this week. After a bad run of form El Tel must of the thought he was in an episode of Elderado he was so bad. The Gunner also decided that he was unable to continue and resigns the Arsenal fans to another campaign without silverware.
Bob Chapple 9790 & 1920 v Norman Wilkinson 1530 & 2520 The Bullet puts in another great week as he beat the stormin 2-1. Great form again shows good as hits the ground running in the opening game. Even though the table seemed a bit off this evening he shot so fast he had time to recover any hiccups. The race was on in the second game though as the storm and the bullet started the race. Although the stormin set off into the lead in was only a short lead and plenty of time for the bullet. He was though unable to match his 1st game heroics and lost a game to only his 3rd opponent.
Terry Kenny 5890 & 8810 v Roy Le Page 2370 & 1930 Kain now the form player in the league proved practice makes perfect as the inside track hears he was out practicing all night on the Monday. Kain gave Le Taxi no chance as he brushed him aside with ease. On this form it makes you wonder what has happened to this Island Player. From superb win in the recent International pairs Le taxi form has slumped. I put it down to having to spend to much time counting his fortune.
Bob Le Moignan 1320 & 1590 V Ian Champion 2370 & 1930 The Jedi Master has struggled as of late but put in a good little performance to scare the champ. With all the big scores coming in from the previous games Champs thought this would be his night to score big. However the master proved its not what you score, Its what you keep that counts. Champs fought valiantly against the table and himself forget the Master was always on his tail. Only near the end of each game champs managed a enough points to sneak to victory.
Tom Oliver 4000 & 340 v Darren Ogier 960 & 4860 A match of 2 halfs as both the Pres and Oge won their games with the break. The pres had a blip early on and allowed oge an early visit. A little over zealous Oge failed to concentrate and was unable to take advantage. Pres soon got back to the break and took a good lead. In Vain Oge tried and tried and the more he did the more the balls seemed to spin out . Game 2 was a different story though as Oge put in a nice 4k break and a slight lead on aggregate. It was now the Pres turn to see his balls spin. It took him nearly 8 mins to score 200 points ( and i know what your thinking he has sped up) but no he just could not get going. Oge tied up the match and 2 points
Andy Rundle 1880 & 2800 v Pete Wilson 570 & 910
The Iceman continues his push for the title as he shows no mercy to long term friend the Rookie. With a pretty straight forward the Iceman made light work against his friend as well as table 2.
Played Points Bob Chapple 7 17 Ian Champion 6 13 Andy Rundle 5 13 Darren Ogier 6 12 Terry Kenny 5 9 Norman Wilkinson6 9 Roy Le Page 5 6 Tom Oliver 3 4 Luke Oliver 3 3 Paul Le Gallez 4 2 Bob Le Moignan 5 2 Pete Wilson 5 0

Unofficial report - true version to follow; The Ice Man Cometh..... ::) ::) ::) Tonight Andy Rundle showed that he is Number One contender for the summer league Title. He blew away one of his closest rivals 3- 0, in the form of Kane. Kane was looking to make a close fight of the second after losing the first game, however an unexpected black peg handed the advantage back to Ice who calmly grabbed all three points.
Ice then went on to defeat the Jedi Master in his second match of the night, 3-0. In the first leg the Jedi played a blinder, however just one mistake let the Ice back in. Ice then coolly melted his opponent into submission in the second, to claim the 3 points and six on the night to put him top of the league.
The Rookie 0 Lord Lucan 3 The Lord showed some sneaky moves and unbelievable trick shots during this bottom of the table encounter. The rookie started off well, however the Lords trick of dispersing balls into the 100 pocket forged him ahead into a lead that even Scotland Yard could not trace. Rookie blown away by the mystical and hard to catch Lord.
The Storm 3 Luke 0. Luke and I both struggled on the table. Might have been better outside in the rain as the table was playing tricks on us both, I went for broke in the second and won against the break, Luke perhaps saving him self for the World Championships so lookout the rest of you ;D
Thanks to Tom Oliver who turned up to help mark, without playing a match tonight. Also to Katie the lovely barmaid :-* who did not make any food tonight, but was an expert fly exterminator as we ere invaded by the winged wee ones who insisted on landing on the tables, and one bald patch ::) ::) :)

Well it didn’t turn out to be the Classic the Stormin was after. With some catch games going ahead Stormin played the champ and the Oge in the same night. Although playing well against Champ in match 1 he came away with a 3-0 loss. Stormin opening break can be described as a typical British summer and over far too quickly. Or Champs 1st visit with a Lady Boy and ended prematurely. Stormin came back well and with 5400 must of thought game one in the bag. But Champs has bit more staying power these days and nipped through to win. With Champs break to come he never looked back and knocked out the any chance of the Storm reappearing to threaten champs day. Match 2 on the same day, same table The storm now had the advantage over Oge. Could he take that 4th spot and begin to take the league by Storm. Oge surprised a few though and after winning the toss selected to break 1st. This proved to be a good decision as he opened up with 8500 and stuck to secure at least a point. Stormin was now under pressure to respond but the 1st game ended with no real dent in Oge score. Game 2 and Stormin looked to achieve his 1st point of the evening and limit Oge good work. With 3500 break though he was looking good and with the Blue table p[laying extremely well maybe 2 points were on the card. The Stormin face soon match the table though as he was unable to add to his score. And after a few shots Oge managed to regain the break and put in a solid 5820 break before stinking and leaving Stormin no time to reply. The Young pretender was up next against one of the old boys in Le Taxi. The young pretender set off well without setting the place on fire though. Le Taxi must of had his mind on another fare though as he was rubbish in game 1. Game 2 was a change in fortunes as Le Taxi made all the running (running not from Roy i hear you shout) and with the Pretender now unable to score anything until around the 10 min mark. And you will see from the scores it wasn’t because Le Taxi was putting together a masterful break. This game was certainly a match of 2 half it was now about who could take the score bonus. With Le Taxi managing to hold out for the extra point in the end. The Pres made easier work of the rookie as he picked all 3 points. The Rookie continues to look for his first points of the season but with the second table not exactly in level the Pres was always favourite as he would of felt at home on this table as it resembles his normal home table during the winter season. The Rookie though continues to improve and is far more comfortable on the table. The Rookie will now be looking to join a Winter league team and take his knowledge learnt from this summer into a team. The Pres though showed some coolness and show his class to win at a canter.
Next up for the Rookie was our very own Jedi Master. With the large gap in knowledge this was always going to be a struggle for the Rookie. (Quiz of the week who is the youngest Rookie V Jedi Master?). On face value this looked a close game but there was never any hope for the Rookie and the Master showed all his class with some shots that i would say had not been seen from our younger players like Oge and the young Pretender. They say it was the table i say it was the quality of the man. The Last game of the night saw 2 great rivals catch up a game from previous weeks. With Champ looking to topple the Pres and press ahead in his pursuit to keep his name. The pres started off well though and held a good lead with about half the game gone. What soon followed though allowed Champ the chance to take an early lead as he looked to top the league with only 3 games to play. When the Pres missed hit his shot and black pegged. From here on in it was all down Hill as Champ pushed ahead and took all 3 pointers at a canter.

Yes you get the T!t of the year award. To be fair any other night and you might of walked away with 4 or 5 points the way you played.

One thing i have to say is oge has done a great job to get something up and running this summer and having food and kate behind the bar is also a great thing too. I`m sure if someone else wanted to try and run the summer league darren would not mind, maybe play at the ex-service next year with two tables but you don`t get food and would they take another table? room for thought as billiards is dying
