Agreed he is doing a fantastic job and Rangers Club is an excellent venue. Wish more players would have played in the league.

Thanks Guys your support and feedback is much appreciated.
If we could get 6 more players it would be great to add another venue into the mix. I think there is also some benefit in running a second division if we could get the numbers up a bit.
I could do this now with people playing each other twice.
Would people be interested in a mini open I.e gsy players only. i believe we could get 3 tables in at the club. Would it work

I agree with the comments above, oge has done a tremendous job this year with the summer league.
I think the idea of a mini Gsy open is a good idea and would take part.

Summer League update 17th July 2012
Luke 1170 & 1100 v Darren 2580 & 2680 Darren 8750 & 12000 v Roy 3600 & 1020 Roy 1230 & 2680 v Bob c 10280 & 11140 Champ 9020 & 5380 v Terry 3480 & 3270 Luke 1350 & 1590 v Pete 390 & 690 Tom 1300 & 1140 v Bob c 7410 & 2980
The league is now a 4 way race to the title. With the Bullet grabbing 6 valuable points this evening breaking the double game record with 21420 points and being the 1st person to break the 100k mark for the season. A stunning performance against Le Taxi. Lets hope the change of the airport runway exit supplements his pocket to cheer up this poor sole.
The bullet was able to secure another notable scalp as he beat the Pres. The Pres is not having his best season and now flounders 9th Position and some 16 point off the lead. Table 1 is certainly running well though as the Bullet notches up another 10k points. Game 1 was an easy victory with over 7k. The second game was a little closer but still a victory by nearly 2k.
Oge also made good progress taking 6 points on the evening with a 3-0 victory over the young Pretender. In what can sometimes be a banana skin on table 2. With being given the early break Oge had to keep whatever he could as any small score could make a difference. After 1800 break the Young Pretender was unable to respond leaving the second game as his chance. After missing the white on his break the writing was on the wall. Unable to make any headway from the Pretender, Oge was able to cruise to a win.
Oge second game didn’t start off to well though after missing on his opening break letting in the dangerous Le Taxi. Le Taxi did well and knocked in 3k break. Oge determined to make up for his early miss got the break straight back. Probably playing some of his best billiards scored 8750 before sticking for 1-0. Le Taxi a little disappointed yet still felt in positive mood playing out the rest of the table and being only 5k behind. Could Le Taxi re find his form and beat his normal team mate. He started off poorly though and allowed Oge to the table far too early. Oge now sniffing his chance for bragging rights, head down and he soon had the break back. Oge then played a stunner as he scored another 7k before sticking. He was not done here though and after a brief visit from the depressed looking Taxi driver Oge was back on the break. Scoring another 5K and finishing on 12k exact to take the highest single game score of the season to date.
Champ another title contender had his sights set on 3 points, this was not going to be easy though as kane was showing some form and a dangerous opponent at the best of times. Champ though showed great Champ –ionship form. Opening his 1st game the with over 9k. Kane though was able to respond with 3480 and give himself a chance for overall victory. However though Champ was in top form scoring another 5k. Although Kane managed another 3270 it was not enough to beat the Champ.
The Young Pretender made up for his loss to Oge earlier in the evening to walk away with 3 points against the Rookie. With the Rookie still looking for his 1st points of the season this game was Tense from the outset. Neither playing scoring points with ease. With around only 4 minutes remaining neither player had scored more than 500 points. The Pretender then exerted his greater experience and broke away to take the 1st game against the break. Game 2 didn’t start much better than the 1st as the Pretender struggled on his break. After settling down though managed to brush aside the Rookie.

We managed to see lord Lucan for 2 games this evening. He though still managed to disappear in a flash at the as the young Pretender was all set to play a catch with him and he gone. Lord showed no mercy to the Jedi Master beating him convincingly in both Games. You could have to say that it was some pretty consistent scoring by the master scoring 930 in both Games.
Kane managed a lucky 2-1 victory over the young pretender on Table 2. Game one was a fairly tight affair until the closi8ng minutes as Kane ran in enough to win. In game 2 surprisingly there was some good scores on this trouble table. With the Pretender showing some expert skill in knocking in 2 breaks nearing 3k. Unfortunately for him though he was only able to keep one of them. During the second break nearing the end of time he missed his attempt for a ball between the 10 and 100. Kane had plodded away during this game and once the Pretender missed Kane kept his score and took the extra point for Score.
Paul then lost 2-1 to the Iceman in controversial circumstances as. With Lord Lucan showing some form, At Last in this league as he ran out an easy victory in the 1st game to shock his opponent and title contender the Iceman. During the second game Iceman had the opening break but was unable to make any impact on the lords lead. The Lord could then smell victory and set about producing an unbeatable lead. However on a critical shot The Ice man showed his true colours and set about putting off his opponent, with the cough of all coughs. Convenient or Gamesmanship, who knows but it did the job to put the Lord off his stride at a vital time. From here there was no looking back as the Iceman ran out 8k to win 2-1
Is this sort of thing acceptable or just unavoidable? Should Paul of blocked it out?
We have all seen different forms of putting your opponent off some quite subtle some not so.
What are the most common and bizarre forms of Gamesmanship you have seen?
*** have started a thread for discussion on the General Bar Billiards Board for you, Oge. - tommo ***

Andy Rundle now the strong Favorite with the likelihood that he will only need 2 points to win the league.
Can the Iceman remain cool to take a victory from Oge. Or can there be a last minute drama and end with a 2 way play off?

Congratulations to Ian Champion on winning the Guernsey Summer league for 2012.
In a tense evening at the Rangers club Ian Managed to beat Luke Oliver 3-0. With Andy Rundle finishing as Runner up. Andy knew a victory over Darren Ogier would either win the league outright or force a play off. However Darren had a different script as he beat Andy 2-1. Winning the 1st game with a 4600 score Andy was up against it. Although he had a good Opening break on the tricky table 2 he was unable to catch Darren aggregate advantage.
with only 3 points separating the top 4 places next season will be a tight affair. See you all in October.

Congratulations to Champs for winning the Guernsey Summer Individual league. Commiserations to all the runners up, and it was a close run battle come the last few matches. Thanks to Darren for organising this league and for the use of the Rangers Club, also thanks to Katie for all the excellent catering, not forgetting her fly swatting skills that were put to the test a few times. With that rapid eye to hand co-ordination she would make an excellent Tennis player ::)

Here are the results from the Bowl Jury.
Lord Lucan did not just do a disappearing act - he just never appeared to play his match against The Time Lord (Tom Oliver)
Stormin completed the double against the reigning Guernsey Pairs champions, this time beating Kane (Terry Kenny) 2-1. First match Kane broke first with over 2K and I struggled with the one up. Switched to the long one up and made a bit of a come back. Kane 4,490 Norman 3,640. Second match, Norman to break, scored under 1,000, then found some form to coast home 4,230 to 1,700 for an aggregate 2-1 win.
The Rookie (Pete Wilson) V The Skywalker (Luke Oliver) Both players struggled with the table at first, as it was not leveled since being moved from Guernsey Open. But Luke found his land legs to take control in both games for a useful 3 points PW 400 LO 3,740 PW 1,050 LO 1,960
Leaving the biggest local BB venue with the biggest car park, we all headed out into the fog and rain of the great British Summer.
