The Future of this board post Chubbster??
In the next few days you will see few changes, apart from Nige & Sparky assuming full ‘Board member’ status. I will not be the sole owner of the board as I feel it should be run by a small committee, which I will chair as Glenn’s nominated successor initially. Members can be replaced as we go along then without the major trauma of the forum owner leaving.
None of the new board are totally familiar with the Proboards set-up. We may press the wrong button in finding our way around, so bear with us.
The three of us will be chatting about the future once Bournemouth is out of the way. But any decisions will be joint ones. We will carry on with the current board members initially in the change-over period. I am conscious of the fact that the current board is entirely ‘South of the River’. I would like to see a board member from ‘North of the River’ at some point in the near future. I have heard this board referred to as Sussex trying to run AEBBA. That is not and will not be the case. All are invited to join discussions.
I will also be talking to Dave Alder about how this forum can go forward in conjunction with AEBBA as I feel its communication role is more vital with the cessation of the BBQ. Dave has ideas for the web site, which will continue to expand slowly if results are submitted to Nige / Millhouse. I am also conscious that not everybody has internet access, Everybody's team has someone who is on the internet, so please keep your team-mates informed. I personally would also like to see the ranking system finally become approved and intend reopening some of the discussions in that area. It is my view that it is still too elitist and should reflect all performances at opens, not just the perpetual quarter finalists and the average players who happen to have a good draw and make the last 16. That’s your decision not mine.
There will be some changes in moderation. The board recognises that all areas should have a local moderator and not someone from the other side of the country. We will look at this urgently. Local Moderators will police their area and report to the board if problems occur. The local mod will be the first point of contact in your area. He will have the power to lock threads etc. This should be on a ‘Carrot & stick’ basis with encouragement & coaching coming long before policing.
I must stress that we will not be rushing into changing what is a brilliant idea from Glenn, we will just be looking at ways of improving it.
Debate is welcome, but if you want to flame someone, do it over the phone or face to face. Do not start wars on here, they will be removed on sight.
Finally let’s continue to enjoy ourselves on here and try do what we can to keep our glorious game going.
