i dont think the rules should be changed. but you could change the one up rule so a ball must pass the fifty pocket. :-/

I must say that at the Sussex weekend I went from scoring my personal highest break to having Richard's immaculate 18880 against me in the next round.
My first thought was that I would rather be at home sticking pins in my eyes (Mighty blues were also 2.0 down at this point) then a thought ocurred to me. On my break game I wonder if I could play quicker than him and get more before the bar drops?.....one day!!! And if I could? How often would I then want to take a lamb to the slaughter? Then unless I am mistaken Richard played Trevor on another table in the next round and his opening break was 50 or 100, I had already got on very well with that table and wonder what might have happened if we had played on that one!
Anyone that wants to change the way the game is now played has to realise that the best players will then adapt to new rules and still be the best but differently.
I have been looking at 4 pin as an alternative and am trying to work out if this game works on a wider table. There is no chance of an oxford shot or an alternative split. 3000 is a huge score and truly anything can happen after the bar drops and all points double!!
Anyone want to come to west sussex and give it a go????
But our 3 pin game leave it alone and wait to the point where we actually rank players by points scored per minute.

I'm up for a 4-pin challenge West Sussex v Whoever.
I was practising it at home late in the Summer, and found I could get thousand breaks by the following sequence:
1. 50/20 reverse split, thick and with plenty of wellie.
Either the cue ball creeps round the back of the 50 and goes in, in which case do same shot again, or it sits up on the cushion alongside the left hand 50.
Very tempting then to try and tickle a shot, but you have to think what position you're going to leave, so the next shot is:
2. Blast ball down to left hand 30 (or 20) with some right hand side to make cueball go off the cush and into the 50 for break back.
Trouble was, this affected my normal 3 pin game and I started the new season off playing crap. ::)
