i must say tommo id be most honoured yet fearful of filling your boots :D ;) that sounds lije a cracking night out :D Thanks Phil, I'm back in my Olympic armchair (and margo crashed out on the settee) after a Chicken Tikka Masala plus popadum, bhajia, samosa each plus a pint of lager and a glass of wine - with change from a tenner! :o :o Followed by four games of bar billiards (the table being on freeplay). Bussed there and walked back. Whilst waiting for the meal to be served I caught the drama of Victoria Pendleton 'only' winning SILVER. Relegated after winning the first sprint by the width of a rim, but well beaten by the Australian Anna Meares in the second. C'est la vie. The news of Chris Hoy's gold was relayed to us whilst we were dining. ;D

And of course how can we forget 20 year old and vastly inexperienced laura trott gaining gold in the womens omnium, a truly amazing feat! :) Indeed, a ready made 20-y-o Olympic gold medallist ready made to fill Victoria's cycling shoes. And the same with Jason Kenny, already taking over from the retiring Chris Hoy, and set to dominate for years to come. Although cycling helmets off to Sir Chris: 6 gold medals is absolutely awesome and unlikely ever to be beaten. I agree about a knighthood for Bradley, by the way, a first British winner of the Tour de France is justification by itself.

Olympic bulletin for Wed. 8th Aug:- Mo Farah through to the 5000m finals.....
- Nicola Adams through to the final of womens boxing.......
- Sophie Hitchon beat her own British record by 37 centimetres in the hammer as her 71.98 metre throw gave her a fifth position in Group A and a place in the final.
- but a blank today in the Showjumping - sounded like Nick Skelton blamed his horse!
- 35-y-o Tim Brabants, our best-ever canoeist, misses out, finishing 8th.....
- Rachel Cawthorn has made it through to Thursday's final of the women's kayak single (K1) 500m.
- and there was excellent news for Great Britain in the 470 women's class where Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark hauled themselves level with New Zealand heading into Friday's medal race.
- but heartbreak for the GB pair of Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes in the 49er class when they finished outside the medals for their second successive Olympic regatta.

Laura Weightman on BBC One after qualifying for the 1500m final (on Friday): "I dipped on the line and I hoped it was close. It's a PB in front of this crowd. We hit the bell and I was in a good place, and I kept going. It's just a dream to be in an Olympics in my home country. PB? Olympic final? What more could I want? What an awesome day."
Meanwhile team GB suffered a 1-2 semifinal defeat in the Womens Hockey at the hands of Argentina. :'( Shara Proctor is out of the Long Jump. failing to improve on her first jump and lying 8th. :'(
Laurence Clarke goes in the last race of the day, the final of the mens 110m Hurdles - finishes a creditable 4th in a daunting lineup - well done to him.

Hopefully our next medal could come tomorrow from Keri-Anne Payne who goes in the Womens 10km Marathon Swim (12 noon, BBC1). Silver medallist in Beijing, and World Champion in 2009 and 2011, Keri-Ann has a good chance in the race on the Serpentine. Watch her try to lead from the front - and stay there !

At the half-way stage Kerri-Anne has not got it all her own way, she's lying third with a Hungarian and an American just ahead of her. Big argument between the commentators on whether the black swimmer just ahead of the pack is a coot or a moorhen! ;D

Hungary and Italy out in front. Kerri-Anne now one of a chasing three from US, GB, Germany. 15 mins and 1000m to go.
The Hungarian Ristov way out in front, won't be caught. Then two (Italy, Germany). Then Anderson (US) and Keri-Anne (GB). Preparing for a sprint finish !
This is exciting, the leader is flagging and K-A moved up to 4th. 500m to go........
Anderson (US) taking over the lead....Ristov (Hungary) fights back........
It finishes Hungary, USA, Italy, GB.........Fourth ! B*gger ! :'(

Charlotte Dujardin wins Britain's second dressage gold medal with a routine set to movie themes including The Great Escape Live and Let Die. Laura Bechtolsheimer wins bronze in the dressage to bring up Great Britain's 50th medal of these Games.
I'm currently watching the womens flyweight boxing final and GB's Nicola Adams has just got her Chinese opponent Ren Cancan on the canvas and is ahead after the first two rounds. 8-)
She's done it ! Adams wins GOLD ! 8-) 8-) 8-) And by an impressive 16-7 margin. That's the first ever women's Olympic boxing title.
Good luck now to Ireland's Katie Taylor in the womens lightweight 60kg final.......Yes! Ireland win their first Gold of this Games. :D

Exciting Taekwando.....Jade Jones wins through to final..........level at 3-3 for long time, scores heavily at the end against the world champion from Taipe to win 10-6.
Tommo likes Taekwando, aka kicking each other up the backside. My dad used to be good at it. ;D
Martin Stamper misses out on the mens final losing 6-9 to his Turkish opponent but has a chance to go for bronze.

Disappointing race for GB's Lynsey Sharp in Womens 800m Semi-Finals, 7th and never in it.
GB's Andrew Osagie runs in the mens 800m final - is up against a pretty useful Kenyan in David Rudisha.....
.....who takes gold with a new World Record. :o Osagie 8th but Rudisha really on a different planet.

Rachel Cawthorn has made it through to Thursday's final of the women's kayak single (K1) 500m. Rachel could manage only 6th. Hopes of a British medal in the canoe sprint rest firmly with the 200 metre specialists.

I can't believe I sat and watched the dressage yesterday...but didn't they do well? Tony Spoke to Tony Franks (former AEBBA Champion) last week and he was going up to Greenwich for the Showjumping on Monday. Reckoned the 'Dressage' was a lesser sport and a bit 'boring'. Two of his sons are showjumpers (but not Olympians - yet). But both run their own stables locally. Anyway Team GB did not let him down, he was obviously able to witness the Gold medal. So hope you enjoy the experience this afternoon and maybe you can bring Team GB similar luck. 8-)

Sailing: Great Britain's men and women had to settle for silver in today's 470 class events. The boys, Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell, were pleased with their medal but Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark were disappointed.
