Sailing: Great Britain's men and women had to settle for silver in today's 470 class events. The boys, Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell, were pleased with their medal but Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark were disappointed. its a shame about the girls because they only had to finish the race to get silver! But hey ho id never be able to do that :p

Anthony Ogogo has lost 16-9 to Brazilian Esquiva Falcao Florentino in the men's middleweight (75kg) boxing semi-finals. Ogogo does take home a bronze medal though.
Earlier in the day, Daniel Fogg finished fifth in the men's 10km open water marathon with a time of one hour 50 minutes 37.3 seconds. Pretty good effort, last time I saw it he was lying 22nd !

Steven Lewis equal 3rd at the moment in the Pole Vault. 8-) But he finishes 5th. :'(

TAEKWONDO - GB's MUHAMMAD WINS Lutalo Muhammad from Walthamstow has to dig deep in the final round and does, scoring an early head shot and holding on to beat Yousef Karami 11-7. Muhammad will now have another fight this evening for a bronze medal.
Sophie Hutcheon, who set a British record in qualifying, could only finish 12th in the Hammer throwing. My dad was good at that as well, especially after he hit his thumb !

Where is Carl Hester on the list ??? Top hero for C.I, but I've not included the full teams, or anything above teams of two in the list. :-/ Look out for Guernsey born and bred Marathon man Lee Merrien in Sunday's race. One of only two runners for team GB :o An outsider, however the crowd will be lifting him. Fully deserved his place in the team. Lots of Donkeys going over to cheer him on - Look out for the flags. Hoping for a PB and who knows, anything is still possible. Go Lee 8-) 8-) 8-)

Muhammad will now have another fight this evening for a bronze medal. Lutalo Muhammad becomes the first British man to win an Olympic taekwondo medal, beating Arman Yeremyan 9-3 in the bronze medal match......... there was much controversy over his selection, Lutalo is only ranked 59th in the world and was chosen over world number 1 Aaron Cook who refused to watch the contest in disgust after his appeal failed.Meanwhile, Tom Daley makes it into tomorrow's Semi-Finals of the 10m high diving, securing a place with his last dive. 8-)

I cant help but feel that we will struggle to capitalise on our outstanding achievements of these olympics and that many of the events we have done well in are flashes in the pan, taekwondo and judo for example. Can we do what the chinese and americans and did after the games or shall we flop like our old mates the aussies? Any thoughts?

Hmm, that's a difficult one to answer...... Firstly I think with London 2012 we've experienced a World Cup 1966 moment. For one glorious Games it all came together for us, and this is "as good as it gets".
This is almost directly because we have seen the very best of Olympians such as Ben Ainslie, Chris Hoy, Bradley Wiggins, and Victoria Pendleton at the absolute peak of their game, just before they are due to retire.
We also have people who have gained inspiration and have proved themselves ready to step into their shoes - true especially of the Rowers - and the cyclists, with Jason Kenny and Laura Trott already with two gold medals each to their names and undoubtedly more to come, and Jess Varnish who is Victoria Pendleton's natural successor.
On the other side of the coin, Team GB have more than pulled their weight in the newer events such as Taekwondo and Womens boxing, and the Triathlon. Jade Jones, Nicola Adams and Alastair Brownlee heroes all.
But what has been most inspiring has been the success in "events we're not normally good at". On one glorious day we saw Jessica Ennis take gold in the Heptathlon, Greg Rutherford gold in the Long Jump, and Mo Farah gold in the 10,000 metres. And all three are young enough to do it again at Brazil 2016.
So while I don't think we'll be quite as good in 2016 we should enjoy the moment - our athletes have stood head and shoulders above all the others in Europe. What a change from 20-odd years ago when Russia and East Germany stood tall !
And always good to leave some scope for improvement - our swimmers and our middle distance runners have dominated in the past and could do so again.
So the future's bright. And how refreshing for money-obsessed football to have to take a back seat for once. 8-)

Mo Farah goes for what would be a magnificent double in ten minutes' time......only six others have ever achieved 10k and 5k gold in the same Games:
1.Kolehmainenen, the original Flying Finn, (Stockholm in 1912); 2.Emil Zatopek, the Czechoslovakian soldier, (Helsinki in 1952); 3.Vladimir Kuts of the Soviet Union, (Melbourne in 1956); 4.Lasse Viren, the Finnish policeman, (Munich in 1972 and Montreal in 1976); 5.Miruts Yifter – "Yifter the Shifter" as David Coleman christened him (Moscow in 1980). 6.Kenenisa Bekele (Beijing in 2008).
Go Mo !
Wooooooooh Moh ! You da man ! GOLD, fantastic race with perfect tactics! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
7. Mo Farah (London 2012)
Mo, asked what was the secret of his success: "Hard Work And Grafting!" 8-) ;D

Our ladies 5th in 4 x 400m. USA win by a country mile and at least it's cheered the hitherto-glum Michael Johnson up in the commentary box. ::)
A third gold for Usain Bolt as Jamaica win the 4 x 100m relay - and a new WR.

One dive left each, Tom Daley leads by the tiniest margin from a Yank and a Chinese. 8-)
He's won a medal - his two rivals still to come, though. 8-)
David Boudia looks like he's got gold for the US. :'(
Qiu Bo gets silver, Tom Daley wins bronze. 8-) His rivals overtook as they had held back their highest degree of difficulty to the end. An incredible quality maintained throughout.

It has to be Sir Mohammed Farah, but talk is he will get it in the New Years Honours List. Well deserved for our greatest ever distance runner. He has a nice personality too, did you see him posing with Usain Bolt, both mimicking each other's trademark posture ? ;D

I thought it was brilliant when usain did the mobot after smashing the relay :D just shows that even the likes of usain acknowledge that mo is an incredible athlete and that he is a humble man at heart ;) thats probably a highlight of the games for me! :) mo farah though, etheopians and kenyans alike tracking him down like mad men and he still smashes it! So, what do we have to look forward to supporting on the last day ?
Lee Merrien (Guernseyman) and Scott Overall in the Marathon (11am start)
Liam Killeen - mountain bike cross-country (1.30pm start)
Fred Evans - boxes for gold @2.15pm Anthony Joshua - boxes for gold @3.15pm
Mhairi Spence (Scotswoman) in the modern pentathlon (6pm start)
Throughout the day there's also Wrestling, Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Rhythmic Gymnastics and Water Polo although I don't think we're involved in any of these.
The Irish certainly aren't bothering with the Water Polo after the last time - six horses got drowned ! ;D
