Fair enough laudrop was a big name when he was a player.... But so was mark Hughes.... And what did he do at city... I think they just need a big name in the management world and someone with a bigger ego than the players!

Coleman III makes a good point, there, the best footballing players don't always make the best managers, which needs another dimension, ie) man management skills. Allardyce for instance - average player, great manager. Hoddle great as player, lousy manager. Laudrup was indeed a celebrated player, along with his rather more famous twin brother Brian. Michael, a midfielder, had the knack of dribbling a ball straight through a defence, beating player after player. I would not take anything away from Mancini though as a player. Very influential for Italy, with a very long career.

If we are talking about big egos another who springs to mind is tony pulis, granted the bloke ought to learn to keep it shut and stop antagonising for the sake of looking 'ard but hes done a very good job at stoke, particularly as we were all saying he could get them into the top 4 at one point!

Hes too old to go to another club. In all fairness any manager will struggle at city with their current structure because they signed too many big names at once, controlling that is like controlling nature! What the likes of fergie, wenger, mourinho etc did so well is make it clear to all their players is they are never and will never be bigger than their club, and thats where man city (not necesarilly mancini) have gone wrong. Which is why uefa FFP will be absolutely beneficial, but thats something entirely different.

Heres some depressing stats for us gooners tonight, bayern are 15 points clear in tge bundesliga, have won the last 11 from 11, and are unbeaten since october. However the last time we played them in 2005 (i believe) we won 1-0 at highbury courtesy of monsieur henry. Thirty minutes gone and where's the razor blades?? Sav

Defending that bad has to be punished, just a shame it was as spawny as many shots i see in the bar billiards world.

Trouble is with Malaga, they keep getting brought out by rich people, and the owners expect them to win things.... Only two teams gonna win stuff in la liga, gap between the rest is just too big!

This is true, theres only two teams in that league who as a youngster youd say "i wish i could play for them"

Quite right too, everyone said at the start of the season that steve bould has the ability to absolutely beast that defence, hes a proper drill sargeant but we unfortunately havent been graced with viewing his work.

Defending has been arsenals downfall for a few seasons now... You need the likes of Dixon campbell and keown back! All great sides are built around a solid defence! Either that or you need to guarantee 3-4 goals from your strikers a game!

Which is where the likes of united and barca are going right, im very disappointed in mertesacker i must admit, i thought he would give stability but hes just sluggish despite loads of caps for germany. I think theres too much emphasis on attacking football that people forget the days of adams, kewown, and even stam at united etc.t

But now they have that more exciting football, they don't win games and they are moaning about it! You can't have it both ways! Even Barcelona leak their fair share of goals, but when you have a midfield and forward line like they do, it doesn't really matter!

It still never hurts to have a monster at the back, when we had the likes of campbell, adams and dixon we still had some cracking playmakers in pires, ljungberg, gilberto, vieira with henry up front, so we kinda had it both ways back in the day.

You have some great young players, who have all just signed new contracts, but that just puts their value up, doesn't guarantee them to stay, united only payed Ronaldo the wages they did in his last season to get him I sign a new contract, to up his value! Otherwise he wouldn't be worth anything because he could walk for free! Arsenal still have to work to keep the likes of Wilshire and Walcott. They will either end up leaving like fabregas or be like Stevie G, a god at his club, but not one no where near he deserves!

I kinda hope they do what united did many years ago and have the 5 young players of the english footballing generation signing on, maybe they might mimic it somewhat.
