Redhill A came crashing back down to earth thanks to a spirited performance by Worthing B away from home. Games went with break up to 2-all, then Redhill looked for their customary "surge". But it was Worthing who took the last three games: Doug Mahy made it 3-2, Jason Wadsworth finding himself a thousand short of his target with the bar gone. Finally, Dave France won the battle of the Daves-in-ostentatious-attire after a rocky start, the Hawaiian shirt triumphing over the virginal white trainers..............
Redhill A 2, Worthing B 5 (at the Old Oak, Meadvale)
Geoff Jukes 10,340, Bill Kerr 3430 Vernon Sparkes 1270, Phil Oakley 8630 Colin Robbins 3000, Nick Brown 10,460 Terry Oakley 8160, Brian Richards 2240 Jason Wadsworth 5050, Doug Mahy 5760 Dave Constable 3110, Dave France 8150 Paul Reece 3240, Gary Ridley 7540
This should make it very tight at the top, with news on the grapevine of Brighton A's defeat tonight, four teams have now lost just one match each.

Worthing A 4 - 3 Brighton A
Brighton A also lose their unbeaten record as they went 4-0 down against Worthing A, recovering to 4-3 at the end. It was a very tricky table, and we had chance in the first 3 games but could not take them, the last four Brighton players certainly benefitted by watching their teammates before them
Game 1 - Neil Higgins beat Steve Mariner, despite not scoring much on his opening break, a scrappy game with plenty of chances to both players, Neil coming out on top 5k to 4k. 1-0
Game 2 - Gareth Lloyd missed his opening split and never really recovered and got beaten by Tony Lewis 2-0
Game 3 - Richard Wooton also struggled, but so did opponent Mal Spier, but Mal got the balls back late on and chased down a 2k defecit to put Worthing 3-0 up
Game 4 - A totally contrasting game to the others, Roger Taylor split his way to 9.5k and touched up but left Chros Reeves 9 minutes. However it was 1 more visit and 2 minutes later when Chris did get the break back, and Chris knocked in 8,500 in 7 mins and was only 1,000 short at the end but Worthing were now 4-0 up. A repeat of the 7-0 defeat of a couple of years ago (when I was captain) was looking like a distinct possibility.
Game 5 - Glenn Chubb started with a cracking 14,000 and looked on for 20k, and it was enough to beat Graham Lewis and prevent the whitewash. 4-1
Game 6 - A typical Tupps type game as he and Alan Messer played out a scrappy game, Tupps coming through to make the score 4-2.
Game 7 - Martin Smith opened with 2k to which I responded with only 500 despite getting the break back. Fortunately for me I got the break back a further 2 times to end up on 9k and give Brighton A a more respectable result 4-3
I don't have the actual game scores, but either Roger or Richard may post them later.

Good to see the Special One (Chubbster) hit form having been through the mill in the county championships: In a way, shame Christmas has to come now, but good to end the first half on a high. 8-)

Good to see the Special One (Chubbster) hit form having been through the mill in the county championships: In a way, shame Christmas has to come now, but good to end the first half on a high. 8-) Glenn has hit a good vein of form, I think he is benefiting from playing for two different premiership sides in Worthing and Brighton. In Worthing he is currently 8 wins from 9, the best record in a team which boasts, Chris Reeves, Richard Wooton, Chris Tupper and myself.

Oh what a night, were doomed i say were doomed. :o In a clash of the 2 mid Sussex teams it was the A team who triumphed to remain undeafeted for the first half. It was a strange match & my tatics didn't work out. The b side loosing all 3 break games & the A side loosing 2 out their 4 break games, we ended up going down 5 - 2. Roll on the next half maybe we can redeem ourselves.
