(Played at the Coach House (formerly the Fletchers Arms) 06.11.06)
Littlehampton 2, Redhill 'A' 5
Barry Holt 6720, Clive Thompson 8790 Jason Clough 980, Gary Powell 9790 Kevin Tunstall 10,170, Vernon Sparkes 4030 Stuart Mepham 2110, Jason Wadsworth 6780 Dave Hampton 7480, Geoff Jukes 3190 Michelle Baden 2810, Terry Oakley 9610 Paul Olver 2850, Paul Reece 6850
What a great table ! But what a strange match also, amazingly four out of the first five frames were won against the break ! It was left to Terry Oakley to restore some sanity to the occasion, his was the only game won from the first visit to the table.

Littlehampton 2, Redhill 'A' 5 Barry Holt 6720, Clive Thompson 8790 Well done Clive! When do you get the results of the "B" sample? Will it lead to you being "sent home" from the World Championships (a la Shoaib Achtar)? Hope not, fingers crossed.

Method in Homer's madness maybe, as Herr van Puebik so quaintly puts it, I was "Twirly" when I turned up at the pub a week ago. ::) I would also like to thank : - Margo for the loan of her cue which has made all the difference; - Sparky for supplying the blue velvet tip which I put on it; - and Milko for recommending a blue velvet to Jean Over in the first place. ;D

tommo, perhaps you can assist me with my failing memory....
I'm struggling to remember the finer points of your "sacrificial lamb" theory, could you please expound it again? :)

Oh yes, Mark: I was stirred by anger into a good performance.
When I was told I was on first against the break against a top county player on his Interleague home top I thought "oh no, not a-f***ing gain": Cheers Captain, you obviously rate me as a w****r not a banker.
Even my own missus said "I feel sorry for Clive, he'll be standing there waiting the whole game while the other guy gets twenty thousand".
Just because for once I managed to beat the system doesn't make it right.
I know your comment was made as a friendly jibe, Mark, so I'll add that this particular sacrificial lamb was lucky to escape a roasting, in common with a multitude of turkeys who will no doubt this Christmas be celebrating the demise of Farepack Hampers. ;D ;D

Wow we lost :'( :'( but it was a good evening. :D Ian.

Wow Ian, what a match that was ! Well done yourself, that was close. And what about that decider, an 11k-plus game with only 50 points separating the players - must have been really tense.

Thanks Tommo. Yes Ding played very well she put me under pressure for most of the game. I managed to get the break back very late in the game thanks to a well judged cushion shot for one behind the right peg, phew !
