Hi Hasting BB Fans
Results Card for Week 2 Ashburnham Av Plough A at The Ashburnham
Mick Caister 4310 Rez Rizai 780 Dave White 2020 Alec Pope 5940 Phil Osborne 1360 Fred Pope 1110 Bob Osborne 13320 Heater Akehurst 60 Vic Hibben 3570 Jack Pope 2450
result Ash A win 4-1
9k Break from Ossie senior
Results Card Plough B v Ashburnham B at the Plough Sarah Quinn 1240 Sandy Harmer 1650 Colin Southouse 9060 Chris Sexton 1220 Lee Sunshine 3340 Mick Osborne 2900 Stewart Chant 6590 Roy Harmer 1590 Martin Cook BP Ron Young 1950
Got to the plough to find the table had a left hand roll and a 14 minute clock (new mechanism fitted witout our knowledge), i think the pool players bums are the main culprits, spent an hour making corrections, sometimes you have to make adjustments for the benefit of all, Lucky are those who never get the table jogged and jostled by thoughtless bums
8k break for Colin
Result The Plough B win 3-2 (first win for the Plough against the Ash B last years winners)
Sarah Quinn in only her third ever game gave Sandy a huge fright in game 1, problems with the "d" in game 3 with the balls moving around when cueing,Martin almost came back on Ron in game 5 but lost scores too often.
Nice matches, Curry and Sausages and chips from Martin, I tried to finish it all off, just to save the waste you know ::) ::)

We didn't adapt well enough to the table, in my opinion the only one of us who had got to grips with the table was Chris who was 8k down when coming to take his first shot. Colin chickened out of a ball by the 200 hole ;D thankfully for him he was playing a real man ;D who gratefully took advantage of an extra 200 points ;D I was quite fortunate to beat Sarah who played well and if it wasn't for her losing a decent break half way through could've easily gone the other way. Must try harder as my school report use to say ;D Commiserations to Colin for his 8740 break not being enough to be registered as the highest home break, looks like a good fight over the season will be had between Bob and Colin on the highest break and 3000 breaks front, and not forgetting the other players who will rival them.

It was a fun filled evening the way it should be, with so many of the pub doing the chicken wings simultaneously after my "accidental" miss... bought a tear to my eye 8-)
I think the old fella and the Dawster may still have something else to say about high scores, but all i can add is that i can still possibly go up in the rankings where ozzie senior can only go down ::)

Not quite so sure on that one for me. to get a good home break on my home table will require some real concentration.its not the easiest. let's just say the balls don't always go where you hit them. then when you think you have it sussed your proved very wrong.:-/

Hi Hastings Bb fans
The Plough B had a bye tonight, so the stars popped down to the royal albert to check the table out, it was bought from the Oddfellows pub which will soon be a tesco express.Nice welcome from the landlord and the locals, The table seemed to have some cracks in the slate that had been repaired, a footprint on the baise probably explains the problem, various rolls allover and soft/dead cushions, i can see why the dawster is a bit dejected being based there.
Might be some money available next year for repairs but i think even Sav would have a job to remedy this, but i hear he likes a challenge ::)
Popped back to the Plough for a titter and a pint or two, Plough A lost 3-2 to the nags Head A
Good news that Badger is continuing at The Nags Head for a few more years

Slate depends on the crack profile(s). Can you describe the profile and better still provide a detailed picture of the underside of the slate. Run your fingers acros the underside of the crack, do the two halves feel level? if it has been repaured there's normally a glue ridge. Is there a wooden support bar across the slate that is not around the edge or hole surrounds? I've yet to find one that does the job accurately enough for my standards. I can then advise. Repairing a single crack is not a problem provided the two halves of the slate are not displaced, it just takes time and TLC. Sav

I cant remember exactly where the cracks are. I believe from what one of my team mates said it is broken into about three pieces. I think one crack goes to a fifty hole and the other to a twenty hole cant remember the other. They are quite long cracks as well. If someone has tried to repair it then they may not have done a very good job or made the best of a completely nackard table. Im not experienced in this kind of table maintenance at all, therefore cant really give the info required. I'll possibly take another look next wednesday when we have a game there.

Hi Hastings BB Fans
Result card for Weeks 4 OKJ B v The Plough B at the OKJ
Sarah Quinn 340 v Debbie Craddock 230 Heather Akehurst 830 v Andrew Lipscombe 2030 Lee Sunshine 3180 v Colin Manson 2080 Colin Southouse 5330 v Ray Norton 950 Stewart Chant 210 v Phil Roberts 620
Result Plough B win 3 - 2
Sarah always ahead till the 5 min marker, then a miss Cue straight through the BP, then at 2min Debbie returned the favour. Last ball in 100 for Sarah to take her 1st Hastings league win Well done the Mighty Quinn in retrospect the game that won the match for us
Andrew scored and kept, Heather didn't, though she is showing signs of better shot selection so future is looking better for her
Lee had trouble getting used to the rolls and speed of the okj top then a 2k break near the end secured to game
Took quite a while for Colin to get the break back (might have to suggest double breaks next season ;D) but then got 2k and then plenty of 500's to take the game away from Ray
Stewart played steadily to end up 2k ahead at the bar looking at a 4-1 but then decided to play the red in off to the 50 hole from a short white which not unsurprisingly came back off the cush to take the Black peg... Amazing :'(Currently somewhere around andromeda i think :D)
The OKJ Table same as our last outing, big left hand roll, up hill with a minimum distance red spot to make the break harder all easy to rectify if there was the will to do so. Alas i dont think it will happen :'(
Nice evening with the B's though and great selection of sarnies

Hi Ashburnham B Can't wait for your match report at the Royal Albert ::) Interesting Top, just dont say it when the buxom bar maid walks passed regs cs Interesting is a great word to describe it. Four of the five games we were winning with minutes to go but managed to only win two. The table if sorted would be a good top, but the bend on it changes after nearly every shot. Luckily i played late on when the break was easier than at the start of the night. Holes and pace were good the one up proved problems, three pegs (at least) were had from one up shots, and when you did get it the red would drift to the right causing problems for both sides. Twice players had the break in the 50 and 200 and at least another three times the ball went in the 200 off the back cushion. I feel sorry for Mike who has done a great job speeding up the table and making sure the holes hold very well, but the cracks in the slate make it a mission to get a 3000 break. Even so we had a good evening with many laughs as usual, the loss will make us even more determined to win next week against the A side ;D who scored very well on the Ash top last night.

Looking at the scores at the Ash, I'm hoping that the Osbourne's continue that form in this Sundays interleague match. Hopefully the rest of us can follow suit.
Also well done to both Ozzie's on producing very consistent high scores of late.
