All,
The moment you have been waiting for has arrived, the draws for the 2012 Individuals and Doubles World championships.
Before the draw I would like to reiterate additional rules in conjunction with the standard Jersey Bar Billiards rules.
1. Groups of 4
Games 1-4, the player named first on the card receives the break. It has been worked out that every player receives at least one break.
Games 5 & 6, the player named first on the card rolls a die onto the ‘leatherette’ of the table, followed by the second player. The highest number rolled has the choice of whether to take the break or not. If both players roll the same number then the roll occurs again, this time in reverse order. Any die that end up on the baize will be classed as void by the match referee and the opposing player will automatically have the choice without having to roll.
2. 4 players in a group, therefore scoring problem resolved. The two players that aren’t playing in the active game become the marker/scorer. If a player is unable to score/mark for a valid reason then they have to find a replacement for all of their allocated games. This also needs to be agreed with the remaining players within their group. Normal refereeing/marking to remain after Group games and for entire Plate Competition
3. If a player doesn’t adhere to Rule 2 above, the Tournament Directors have the right to eject them from the competition, irrespective of who is involved. THIS RULE WILL BE ENFORCED.
4. Groups will be run as 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss and in the event of a tie, decided as follows: Points, Average, Highest Score, Head to Head result, Toss of a coin.
5. The Tournament Directors decision is FINAL.
All of the above and other standard rules shall be on display through the whole of the weekend, therefore no excuses for ‘forgetting’ them.
Finally, before the draw is announced, (apologies for the bad layout).
Once the 36 groups have been completed on Saturday evening a live draw shall take place for the main competition Last 64 and for Round 1 of the plate. Due to numbers this means that all 36 group winners progress, followed by 28 ‘best’ runners up. Again, the best runners up are decided as per the groups. Everyone else is placed into the Plate Competition on the Sunday.
DOUBLES DRAW - PLEASE NOTE, ALL PAIRS ARE EXPECTED SO 'CHECK-IN' AT THEIR ALLOCATED TIME AS 'BYES' MAY BE FILLED
