Hi eastbourne 4-pin Fans
The star 4 pin players turned up last tuesday for a practice and low and behold the seven sisters and hospital players popped in for a knock about too.. we decided to have a match but because of the numbers it was double break and single leg, all breaks over 500 to be recorded
results as follows... even with an unlevel star top GRRR
Stewart Chant 2660 high break 860 v Mike Reilly 1910 high break 760 Peter Payne 2020 high break 1020 v Tony Smith 980 Colin Southouse 2290 high break 690 v Chris Haynes 2400 high break 1150 Chris Turner 1350 v Ryan Smart 1680
Interesting first forray into 4 pin for the Eastbourne boys. we shall see how this singles format works before decisions on the winter league format is discussed at the AGM

Hi Eastbourne 4 pin Summer league results card
singles games played at the Seven sisters 21/05/13 aggregate score over 2 games, toss for choice of break leg wins bonus
Match 1
Game1 Mike Reilly*1620 with 650 break v Gareth Dell 2800 with 590 break Game2 Mike Reilly 1070 v Gareth Dell 2410 with 530 break
totals Mike reilly 2690 V Gareth Dell 5210 with 2 points for the win and 2 leg wins Match 2
Game1 Chris Turner 2870 with 510 break v Colin Southouse 2830 Game2 Chris Turner 1210 v Colin southouse 2150 with 840 break
totals Chris Turner 4080 and 1leg win v Colin Southouse 4980 with 2 points and 1 leg win
Following discussions with those involved, the rule about only using the red seemed to slow the game down a bit and with the low scoring shots we would all probably say the game would be better if the rule was changed to "use of any available ball"... particularly as i lost a 280 break in game 1 which cost me the win :'( however we still managed a 5710 score between us and me with a 2830 losing game score will probably be the highest losing score for a while ;D

well the star played a bit better for some! i played phil osborne, phil broke in 1st, scoring a tidy 1810 to beat my 1020! ( balls wouldn't drop) including a break of 710 for phil, 2nd game, bit better for me, scoring 2100 but left 200 shot shortlosing overall by 3300 to 3120! which left tony and lee to play! both players scoring 1380 with lee getting 200 with last ball to square things up before romping away with 2nd game scoring 4030 with breaks of 1600,500,620 and 680, and losing an 820 break to boot!

These scores are aggregated over 2 legs, presumably ? ;) yep over 2 legs, might be worth considering NOT insisting on the red being used when available it does slow the game down a bit if it rolling round the pockets a lot!, we can't change it this year ourselves as it will be unfair on those that have already played. Think it might be worth considering for our northern friends as well. our league is alsoa singles league rather than a team event nothing but good comments from all who have played so far regs cs

Your league appears to be in full swing, with much interest amongst those taking part. Good to see. 8-)

And Eastbourne and Crawley are welcome to keep it between them.... well done West Sussex! 8-) You shouldn't knock it until you have tried it ! :D I have, albeit not "competitively".... it's not the same as the game that we normally play and I can't say that I enjoyed it so I have no plans to play it again. :-X I have no problem with other Leagues playing it as a "fun/summer" competition if they want to, we all want to encourage people to play the game in any format, although I do hope that nobody tries to introduce it to any of the winter Leagues that I play in as that would be the quickest way to make me give the game up.... :o

I think your playing future is secured, Dave. The game will remain as 'out of season' in these regions - as an alternative to off-the-spot or other such handicap events. To play it 'properly' you need the 'proper type of table' (narrow) which we just don't have - unless you want to take a trip to the Three Moles Selham or the Hope at Carshalton.
So for us 4-Pin a pleasant diversion - particularly attractive to myself due to its esoteric nature. 8-)
