Is there a set start time for the games or is it the usual 8.30 start?

I was always under the impression competitions are supposed to begin at 8pm, but most people don't turn up till 8:30, I may be wrong though....

The reason was this, once upon a time teams were allowed to practice on an away table in a league match, the rule was, money in the table by 10 past 8. This wasn't allowed in knockouts, or singles, it assumed that when there was practice allowed, teams would be present by 8 o clock. hence no practice, so it was game on at 8.

In the first game between SC/TB V AC/PY, tony started with 2k, and then 4times the break, to give Andy break back. Andy looked comfortable until 6, where he left split short of the 100 hole, and missed due to a MINOR drift! After twelve minutes of play, scores where still 0-0! Eventually after some bottom of the table play, Simon got the break back and knocked in just over 5k. Second leg, Phil started with around 500, Simon got break back and then pinned it, giving Andy break back AGAIN, and slightly more tentative this time missed his split, Tony played down the bottom for a while, as did Phil, then Simon got the break back and touched on at 4k to win.
Second game between SC/DS V DC/JT was also very exciting! Jim started with 5k, then everyone messed around the bottom for a few shots, I eventually got the break back, and knocked in around 2k, Damon then got the break back and notched up around 1k, and then Dave got the balls back just as the bar went. JT/DC took a 2200 lead into the second game. Dave started with 1.5k, Jim got a break of around 1.5k and unfortunately pinned it! Damp got the balls back and couldn't get going, then Dave managed to get the break back and put another 1.5k on the board. This meant scores went around equal give or take a few hundred. So after a nervy last minute, JT/DC led by 110 on the last ball. After around 5 attempts to pot the last ball. I managed to sink it in the 200 hole to take victory!
Two very good games which could have gone either way!

Ted Dunkley & Lorin Clough bt Jim Smith & Dan Rawson
A close encounter where neither pair really did enough to thoroughly deserve the win!
A very scrappy first leg where nobody quite got used to the table saw a late 2k break enable Ted & Lorin edge it by 3,550 vs 750.
The second leg was equally scrappy with numerous chances for all. Finally Jim got the break back and looked like he would clinch it as he passed the 1,500 mark but a tricky ball behind the left hand 30 hole ended the break. Final score in leg 2 saw it go to Jim and Dan by 2,920 vs 1,100.

Make sure Burton knows there are games this coming Thursday. It's happened a few times before that they've been closing at 8.00 pm. Perhaps Jel will just give them a call? Cheers.

Headland is ok for Thursday. Hope Burton's extra staff aren't knocked over in the rush when the four players arrive. :)

Looked to me as if the top game was listed as to be arranged. Just thought there would be the one match. Maybe things have changed. Chance to be a schoolboy again would be nice Stew :)
