OK, what's thirty-ones? Sav Thirty ones is where you can only score 310 nothing more nothing less for 1 point. Who ever has the most points at the end is declared the winner.... each player has ago at the break and after that you play from where the balls are left. A legal touch up is required after each 310 scored. Kev

So from the break there are two ways...... 50/30 break which gives 110 (red in 30 pocket) break +150 = 260, one up. +50 = 310 or you could play 1 up =50, 50/10 split +110 = 160, break +150 = 310.

I always played it when you get 31, you move onto 32. The player on the highest number at the end wins

I don't think Kev or Nigel will be there but there will be a contingent from Horsham and Billingshurst. Margo and I will be on the train so we can have a few.
Our version is a round of about 10 players, each tries to score exactly 310 points (easiest way is as Kev described). 20p each in the kitty to start off with and a 10p fine if you fail to score at least 100 (or is it 200 ?) Other "tart fines" like playing out of turn, or forgetting to score when it's your turn to do so.
And it has to do a complete round of players before a kitty can be claimed !
It's all a bit of fun really and it ends at about 6pm with a home-made curry from 'chef' Nigel.
I'm sure you'll be most welcome, Chris.
Visit last year's thread to see some of the evil effects of the curry - not for pussies ! ;D

Yes I'm tempted for a laugh and a day out!
Been examining the cross country train fares via Tonbridge and Edenbridge and worked out I could get there from Dover for £6.50 return provided I don't go through London with my ex staff privilege ticket, only takes a couple of days! stopping at every haystack ;D ;D, just like the old early morning paper trains!
That and the Bipedular-Electro-Velocipede from here to the station!

Thoroughly enjoyable day for me and thanks to the local lads for making me welcome, was still tasting the curry at 0300hrs this morning!
Lots of firsts for me;
Billingshurst, a great pub and good company.
British Rail charging less to go to Billingshurst than they do to Tonbridge, 50 miles nearer!!
Played thirty-ones.
Paid the most I've ever paid for a pint of Doombar, £3.50!! still had a gallon ;D
Hottest curry I've ever tasted.
Met an Australian drinking SHANDY :o :o
Think I'll put it in the diary for next year.

It was a great day, made all the better by seeing an England International joining in and being accepted as one of the boys. ;D Much interest in Sav's electrical velocipede when I told them he'd cycled all the way from Dover ! Memorable events of the day....... - 5 out of 6 of the kitties were won by the Roffey contingent (Moose, Dementia and Pete the Fish)
- Some great displays of ineptitude, mostly from Tommo but two good ones from Chris - 1)potting both balls off the break with 310 at his mercy requiring the one-up and 2) top-scoring somehow with 500 ! :o
- Five pints of Stella and five (!) bowls of Nigel's Tikka Masala concoction...(was suffering late last night)
The usual warm welcome from the Railway, and Margo and I are already looking forward to next year. 8-)
