With the teams splitting into two different sections after these matches, there is still plenty to play for in the games this week.... 8-)
Brewers Arms v Black Horse Either of these teams could still qualify for the top section, but probably need a big win and also need other results to go their way as well.... Black Horse slight favorites here for me but will they get enough points to move up the table far enough.... :-/
CKRBL v Bridge Probably the key match to see who remains in the top half.... the Bridge are on a good run and will definitely be in the top section but CKRBL probably need to bounce back from the whitewash and get a win to have a chance.... a 3-2 home win could be enough to get them through. :-/
Cock Inn v Plough The Plough boosted their chances of moving into the top half with a good win this week and will be looking to get as many points as possible from the team that are at the bottom, but the Cock Inn know their own table well and will certainly give them a hard time! ;D
Star Eastbourne v Laughing Fish The top of the table clash, both teams assured a place in the top half and will be looking to gain an advantage over their opponents in this game.... the draw will be crucial with either side capable of inflicting a heavy defeat on the other. The Fish will be pleased to be back to full strength for this match.... 8-)

Hi Lewes BB fans
League cup match result card week 7 The Star Eastbourne v Laughing Fiah
Stewart Chant 1910 v 6630 Ian Lelliott Phil Osbourne 3590 v 3990 Ron Sheridan Bob Osbourne 0 v 7460 Bill Kerr Peter Payne bp 0 v 8110 Dave Ingram Colin Southouse 1970 v 3700 Tony Jenner
Result the fish win 5-0
Ian off early, stewart struggled to get anywhere, Ian nice 5k to seal the game Phil off early, a too and fro match with Ron 500 ahead at the bar just enough to take the point Bill opened with 3.5k Bob always chasing and kept pegging throughout the game, another 3k from Bill and game over peter opened with 1.5k Dave came back with a game winning break of 7450 followed by tuck up, great to watch Tony black pegged early on but colin was left awkwardly on plenty of accasions and failed to make his only break count leaving tony to complete the whitewash.
The table acquired a left hand roll as the night progressed, but all credit to the fish team tonight with all playing the Star table with a lot more control than the under par star players who mostly left slightly embarrased tonight. Hopefully we will makew a better fist of it in 2 weeks time
nice couple of pizzas at the end to see our guests on their way

So, how did I get on with my predictions.... :-/ Brewers Arms v Black Horse Either of these teams could still qualify for the top section, but probably need a big win and also need other results to go their way as well.... Black Horse slight favorites here for me but will they get enough points to move up the table far enough.... :-/ A big 4-1 home win for the Brewers (which certainly made a mockery of my thoughts! ::)) move them up to 16 points and 3 wins and, subject to the result from the Plough currently make them joint 4th in the table. :o CKRBL v Bridge Probably the key match to see who remains in the top half.... the Bridge are on a good run and will definitely be in the top section but CKRBL probably need to bounce back from the whitewash and get a win to have a chance.... a 3-2 home win could be enough to get them through. :-/ A good fight back from the Bridge to recover from 0-2 down to win the match, a result that moves them up to second place and leaves CKRBL in joint 4th with the Brewers on 16 points and 3 wins! :o Cock Inn v Plough The Plough boosted their chances of moving into the top half with a good win this week and will be looking to get as many points as possible from the team that are at the bottom, but the Cock Inn know their own table well and will certainly give them a hard time! ;D The first draw of the season with the Cock fighting back well in a low-scoring match.... only 260 points separated the last game with the visiting Captain failing to get the win to take his team to victory and a 3 way tie for fourth place! :o Star Eastbourne v Laughing Fish The top of the table clash, both teams assured a place in the top half and will be looking to gain an advantage over their opponents in this game.... the draw will be crucial with either side capable of inflicting a heavy defeat on the other. The Fish will be pleased to be back to full strength for this match.... 8-) Well, I did say that either team could inflict a heavy defeat on the other.... ;D .... but I certainly didn't expect a 5-0 win for the visitors which gives them a 7 point lead at the top of the table with 3 games remaining. 8-)

An exciting finish to the first half of this competition which leaves the table looking like this....
Pos Team Played Won Draw Lost For Against Points
1 Laughing Fish 7 6 0 1 28 7 28 2 Bridge 7 6 0 1 21 14 21 3 Star Eastbourne 7 5 0 2 21 14 21 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4= Brewers Arms 7 3 0 4 16 19 16 4= CKRBL 7 3 0 4 16 19 16 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6 Plough Plumpton 7 2 1 4 15.5 19.5 15.5 7 Black Horse 7 2 0 5 13 22 13 8 Cock Inn 7 0 1 6 9.5 25.5 8.5
With the teams now being divided into two halves, it looks as if the Committee may now have to make a decision to decide who takes which place! :o
There is a Rule to cover this in League matches....
xi In the event of two or more teams finishing level on points, the team having the most won matches to their credit shall be declared the winner. Should the teams still remain level, the position shall be resolved by a replay on a neutral table to be nominated by the Management Committee.
.... but I don't know if this will apply to the League Cup as it is a separate competition! :-/
Perhaps the easiest way to decide it would be on the head-to-head result between the two teams which would put CKRBL into the top half as they beat the Brewers 3-2 in Week 3.... although a play-off would always be more exciting! 8-)
We shall await the decision with interest as it will affect the fixture list for all of the teams for the rest of the season..... ;D

At last night's committee meeting it was agreed to decide the split on 4th place by the team with the better AWAY average would be 4th and this was the Brewers who move into the top half and CKRBL finish 5th and go into the lower half.

An interesting decision.... especially as the Brewers played more away games than CKRBL? ??? We look forward to playing them. ;D

Difficult decision to make either way average is still average how ever many games have been played . If overall average had been taken into account the result would have been the same in this instance .
