Looking promising now, England take the wickets of Clarke and Smith, five Australian wickets down now !

Hopefully the Broad incident will soon blow over, although I have been listening to the commentary on Five Live this avo - and both Stuart's dad Chris and 'Sir' Geoffrey were shamelessly defending him ! But he is young, talented and hopefully able to shrug it off.....unlike poor Zinedine Zidane who is largely remembered for the headbutt incident in his final intenational appearance instead of for his remarkable skills.
Perhaps there is some mitigation in the introduction of the new magic eye system - just now it took three separate umpires to give Clarke out. And it works both ways of course, with fielders quite often claiming catches that didn't carry. Too much appealing is not very appealing, and I suppose yesterday the Aussies had themselves to blame as they had used up all their appeals quota !

Down to the tail now, Hughes, and the dangerous Agar there, alot of pressure on the inexperienced Hughes! Weve pulled it right back!
I do trust that in time Broad will be remembered for his talent than this incident because we can argue this issue til the cows come home!

Im amazed, Agar has an average of just shy if 40 in FC cricket, yet he was stuck in at number 11! Madness

Helped him to create a world record though ! We'll see what he can do now as he's been promoted to No.8. Interesting that when interviewed last night Michael Clarke was very 'bullish' about the Aussies being able to 'complete the job'. The spin of Swann should be able to do the business, surely - however my guess is that it will be a bit too close for comfort.....

What an exciting finish: lunch called with England needing one wicket but the Australians just 20 runs ! 8-| Both our crystal balls working well as Haddin is still there....

Just seen there was final ball drama with Englands old enemy, the DRS system, awarding them the final wicket!!

England name an unchanged side for the second test, i dare say Onions may get a look in for Finn, although Lords being his home ground, who knows!

Mickey Arthur once again under the spotlight making claims of racial discrimination in his dismissal as Australia coach! Maybe he was just that rubbish adding to why he was sacked.

Well England going in unchanged tomorrow, although what i would do is bring Onions in for Finn as he will skid a few along, particularly if the Lords pitch plays anything like the last time against New Zealand.
If Australia remain unchanged i cant see the top 6 hurting England, other than Watson, Rogers and obviously Clarke, although having said that Bairstow's days i think are numbered unless he pulls his finger out! Not much threat from Aussie soin, Agar slightly all over the place, pace attack looking good although not quite Jimmy and Broady!!
My verdict, England to win but a less nervy affair!

England going in first, right choice for definite.
One change with Bresnan in for Finn, whereas two changes for Australia with Usman Khawaja and Ryan Harris brought in.

Bell to the rescue for England again here with another hundred but Steve Smith pulls Australia back into it! 289-7 at close of play

A great recovery from that disappointing start: Another great innings from Bell, and a classy knock from Trott. England need to add a steady 50 before lunch tomorrow, 350 the minimum target on this dry wicket. Anything less and I would expect Australia to get stuck in, and we could eventually find ourselves holding on for a draw.

I cant see the Aussie top 6 hurting England greatly, other than Clarke who is due runs, hes too good not to score, and maybe Watson, Australiamay look at the score and think theyve a lot to do on a pitch thats swinging, turning and bouncing. I think Jimmy will have a field day on that bad boy and Swann i think will have his moment, just got a feeling! England need 350 to feel more confident, Bell set a good foundation after that dreadful start.

Another frustration comes from Australias bowling, Harris was bowling some absolute dobbers then gets one on a length and gets Pietersen, bit unreal if im honest!

Two more go on the start of day 2, Swann and Broad need to dig deep massively to get us to a more comfortable 350!

Instead of enforcing the follow-on, England are looking to grind the Aussies into the dirt by batting again! They will look to set a target of over 500 at some point tomorrow evening or on Sunday morning.

They will look to set a target of over 500 at some point tomorrow evening or on Sunday morning. Seeing that theres 3 days left, why not embarrass them more! Bat for the whole day tomorrow, set 500 as you say tommo, bowl them out in two sessions, this is the best ive seen England bowl for ages and thats saying a lot given that we are THE bowling side of world cricket, best attack since Warne, McGrath and Lee.
