Have you received our entries? Chris and Chrissie Newson?? Thanks We sent this week I've just phoned Del to check and as yet he has not received your entries, but don't worry just yet, he did receive some entries today and he tells me they were posted last Friday so they took five days to get here, remember we are in Suffolk, out in the sticks and all that and the carrier pigeons sometimes get lost. As soon as Del gets them he will give me a buzz so I can add your names. thanks for entering Dave

Following our Committee meeting on Tuesday night we are happy to confirm that the deadline for entries has been extending into the New Year. We have also decided on the Charity we will be supporting which is Suffolk Family Carers. Through out the day we will have a team of people selling raffle tickets and ALL money will go to the Suffolk Family Carers, we are only able to do this because of the very kind sposorship we have received from Specflue. If any of you attending the open would like to donate anything we can use as a raffle prize it will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance for your help and we look forward to seeing you all in March. Dave

To add to Dave's comments I'm aware that many thought we were being unrealistic to set a date of 31st December 2013 as the deadline, it was always meant to be a guideline and we had to set a date, the draw has been set for Tuesday 18th February at 7.00pm to be held in The Grover & Allen North Street Sudbury should anyone wish to attend you will all be more than welcome and we have now revised the absolute deadline for receipt of entry forms as Saturday 15th February 2014. Suffolk Family Carers is the chosen Charity of BBC Radio Suffolk, I have contacted Radio Suffolk and we are hoping they will assist us in promoting the event, updates to come. It has always been our intention to run the first round of the tournament on a Group basis ie 16 Groups of 4 players, each group will play 6 games (3 per group member) the top two in each group will go through to the Cup Competition and the bottom two through to the Plate Competion therefore each competitor will be guaranteed 4 games throughout the day. During the Group Stage each group will play to a conclusion and will play all 6 games on the designated table. So far I have only received 1 reply from Hotels I've contacted, The Black Boy Hotel Market Hill Sudbury www.theblackboyatsudbury.com 01787 379046 has offered 10% discount for booking confirmed by 31/01/2014

According to my maths there are only 14 places left, remember these are open to Suffolk and non-Suffolk players on a first come first served basis For those of you who may wish to stay over night in Sudbury here is a list of a few places that offer accommodation in Sudbury, Please note that although I tend to drink quite a lot I always try to make it back to my house and therefore I have not tried or inspected any of the places myself. The Black Boy. 7 Market Hill, Sudbury 01787 379046 www.theblackboyatsudbury.com around a 5 min walk from the venue I understand from Chris C that they are offering a discount if rooms are booked early i.e. by the end of this month The Bay Horse. 61-65 Melford Road. Sudbury. 01787 377450 www.bayhorsesudbury.co.uk a 5 min walk from the venue and the ONLY pub is the area with a real narrow Bar Billiards table. Note their prices do NOT include breakfast The Mill Hotel. Walnut Tree Lane. Sudbury. 01787 375544 www.legacy-hotels.co.uk/legacy-mill would guess a 10 min walk from the venue and up hill but a nice down hill walk back The Cabin. 98 Melford Road. Sudbury. 01787 315689. www.thecabinsudbury.co.uk Probably a good 10 -15 min walk from the venue There are plenty more places to stay in and around Sudbury, I've just go my lazy head on and can't be bothered to type them all out. Look forward to seeing you all in March Dave

Keith did you get things sorted with the Swan?
I had to do some work at the Black Boy in Sudbury last week so I tried to take a sneaky look at their rooms and I have to say that the ones I looked at surprised me, they all looked nice enough to sleep in

As far as I am aware there are still 10 places left for the East Angian 4-pin open and only a couple of weeks before the entry deadline. For those of you that are driving down please don't park in the roads, our traffic wardens are like little Hitler's and you can guarantee they'll give you a parking ticket. We have car parks near the venue that are free although you still need to obtain a FREE ticket from one of the ticket machines. The ticket covers you for 3 hours free parking and from midday Saturday until Monday morning no further ticket is required. Can I please remind everyone that during the day we will be raising money for Suffolk Family Carers 8 day a week appeal by way of selling raffle tickets. If anyone would like to donate anything we can use as a prize it will be gratefully recieved. On behalf of the Suffolk Bar Billiards Association may I please take this opportunity to thank SPECFLUE for their generous sponsorship. Dave

Ian, Del tells me your entry form turned up today, so thanks again.
We still have a few places left so get your thinking caps on and see if there is anyone else you can ask to enter.
Remember that on the day we will be raising money for Suffolk Faimily Carers so the more people there, the more we raise for this great charity and in turn the more publicity Bar Billiards will get.
