Johnny - please be very careful with your inferences here. Northants did field an eligible side as the local qualifying criteria was amended based on difficulties in fielding sides based on the previous qualifying criteria. You will recall when your team qualified but decided not to attend.
This year qualifying was based on Summer League Winners. I am sorry that you did not attend the meeting to air your views but then again, you rarely do. You tend to prefer to do that on forums or social networking sites.
The Fox were summer league winners and therefore took their rightful place in this competition with the team signed on.
This is evidenced by the fact that Damian Coates played a number of summer league games and was eligible and that I was not signed on for the summer and was therefore not eligible. I therefore did not attend to play.
If you have further issues or queries please feel free to raise them at Tuesday's committee meeting. 8:30pm at The Headlands.
Thanks.

Lorin - Their must of been a lack of communication.
Was Leigh made aware of this (played for the fox)?
When did my team win the Team KO and not turn up to the All England event? Rushden didn't win the Team KO in 2010.
Also how can you make a comment on me airing my views on a public forum? I admit I have NEVER attended a meeting and probably never will now. That's my choice and my reasons alone.
So what was the qualifying criteria? Seems a bit elitist that it's done behind closed doors and not announced. Also isn't it something for an AGM?
So much for democracy!

Johnny,
As for a lack of communication - I wholeheartedly agree. I think it is something that we have lacked in the past. That is why we now have a vibrant committee with an active Twitter and Facebook presence as well as a website with growing popularity. These have been developed and effort has gone into them precisely to improve how well the league communicates. This has all happened SINCE the last AGM.
I do not know whether Leigh was made aware that he was eligible to play in this competition last week. I was not part of the team and so did not have any involvement. I would imagine that he was asked but that would be down to the captain of The Fox team.
Forgive me - I thought there was a year when the Exiles won the team KO and then did not attend this competition. Maybe my mistake and that it was a different competition the exiles won.
My point about you airing comments on forums etc. is this - it is fine to make comment and hold any views you like, but if they happen to be ill-informed because of your unwillingness to attend committee meetings where matters like this are discussed then you are bound to feel a little 'in the dark'. The end result being that you make comment as if to suggest you or others in the league are 'hard done by' when in fact it is far from being the case.
As per my previous post - the local qualifying criteria was amended away from Team KO champions (Winter League) to Summer League champions as it became a struggle to field sides from the previous competition. Your team did not enter the Summer League as far as I am aware and neither did Rushden. This is why members from the Rushden and Exiles teams joined The Fox team for this year's Summer League season. I do not believe any decision taken is 'elitist' if it is taken by the committee members. After all the committee members are elected at an AGM and that IS democracy.
You make a good point about what decisions should be made by the committee and those that should be delayed so as to be put to the AGM. I think that where decisions are made by the committee they are, for the most part, because we can I'll afford to wait the best part of a year before the decision is taken. Also, given the historical apathy to attending AGMs it is unlikely to mean a change of view since it was largely only the committee that attended anyway! But, as always, you are welcome to attend an AGM and play an active part in the decision making within the Northants League.
I am sorry that you feel you will not attend any meetings in future (that said, I do not know whether you attended any in the past) - a real pity given the growing enthusiasm in our league just now by a larger number of league members. Your voice and views are equally valued in our league but you need to join in for it to be heard properly. It tends to be more difficult to gain consensus when all you get is dissenting voices from the sidelines. Other threads on this forum illustrate that point rather well!
Anyway, let me reiterate, you are very welcome to attend this week's committee meeting to express your concerns about eligibility for competitions, to offer ideas for how things could be improved or even just catch up on all the matters of the committee.
I hope to see you then.
Lorin

What might be a good idea is to have our meetings by forums/media sites as you have loads to say on these but quiet as a mouse when it's face to face!!!
I believe as you are trying to be a Northants player that in future if you have a problem with our league where you think rules are being broken that you should air your views through the proper channels rather than In public. As all this can do is damage the spirit of our league.
And YES Leigh was asked for your information by MYSELF and politely turned it down as he was jetting off abroad,
You may reply if you wish but this will be the last thing I say on the matter.
Pm sent also.
