All, firstly apologies for playing the final 1 hour earlier then scheduled. This wasn't planned and we didn't even realise it until after the presentations had finished and were advised by some disgruntled supporters (and quite rightly so). Highly embarrassing and this will never happen again.
Congratulations to Jim on the plate win & Mark for the Main tournament, great to see someone emotional after winning it. Makes the whole event worthwhile when you see the passion in some of the players.
Dates for next year weren't published either but I can confirm that the event will take place on:
Friday 7th November 2014 Saturday 8th November 2014 Sunday 9th November 2014
Finally, thanks again to all of you that attended the event and to those that followed online, hope to see you all again next year and some that missed out in 2013.

Just got in, but I fear several people will still be in Jersey this evening as ours was the only late afternoon flight to leave after the fog closed in, saw a few well known faces in the departure lounge.
Well done to Mark, always good to see a new face on the trophy, though we were one of the ones who unfortunately missed the climax as we were having a meal and got back for the scheduled time. Can't be helped!
More annoying to me as the AEBBA tables man was the gear stolen from the weekend including pegs and a scoreboard!!!!!

Feels like Groundhog Day.... After spending over 11 hours at Jersey airport on the 11th day of the 11th month just woken up at a very unerringly quiet Merton Hotel, ready for an early morning taxi to airport to try and catch a 15 minute flight back to reality.....

Feels like Groundhog Day.... After spending over 11 hours at Jersey airport on the 11th day iof the 11th month just woken up at a very uneerily quiet Merton Hotel, ready for an early morning taxi to airport to try and catch a 15 minute flight back to reality..... Hope everybody has now made it safely home, we were lucky to get away from Jersey yesterday afternoon when a small break in the weather allowed our plane to arrive from Gatwick and then take off before the fog came down again. Another brilliant weekend over in Jersey and congratulations go to the new world champions.... Mark Trafford in the main competition, Jim Millward winning the Plate (in the first time he had ever been in that! ) and Marcus Chipman and Nigel Senior for winning the Pairs competition to keep that trophy at the Black Horse in Brighton for another year. My thanks go to everybody involved in organising and running the competition again this year, especially Sean and Graeme on the Admin Desk, Nigel Ryall for giving us the usual superb set of tables and the Merton Hotel for hosting the event. We look forward to going back again next year.

Finally, thanks again to all of you that attended the event and to those that followed online, hope to see you all again next year and some that missed out in 2013. Sean Hi Sean, You deserve all the plaudits paid by those bearing witness to yet another superbly-run World Championships. The Live Feed you provided kept those of us stuck at home in a cold and wet England wishing we were there entertained throughout. Your format was really user-friendly, but I would just point out that before you set the pages in stone, the page giving scores for the last 16 of the Main competition is not currently visible........but I'm sure that you are already aware of that and have it under control ! Regards, tommo

Congratulations to Mark on becoming World Champion, a superb achievement, so well done to him. Nigel must be very disappointed not to win it but at least he won the Pairs with his playing partner Marcus, so well done to them as well. We were some of those that got stranded in Jersey because of the fog but at least British Airways (after queuing for over an hour) put us in a superb 4 star hotel called the Radisson Blu that has rooms overlooking the marina at no expense. We arrived back at Gatwick yesterday at 6.45pm.
I may be mistaken but I think some other prize winners were..... Highest break (Group game) Kevin Tunstall 16k+ Highest Lady Break Michelle Baden ? Furthest Lady Caroline Jones ? Highest Lady Score Jean Brackenridge ? Scratch Cards Graham Sheard £40 & Steven Sheard £40 Main Card (Desk) Sean Le Beuvant £125 ? Most tic tacs used for scoring Milko 13 Apologies if I’ve got it all wrong or missed someone.
Well done to Sean, Graeme and their helpers for making it another fabulously run tournament.

I thought that Sammi Baden won the Ladies awards for Highest Score and Break.... but I may have got that wrong? Keith, if you are wrong we can blame the Tic Tacs.... if I have got it wrong I will blame the Guernsey Boys for forcing me to drink all that Bacardi and Coke on Sunday night!

Well what a weekend that was! Am still getting over the shock of it all !
As usual, a fantastic weekend in a great venue, with great friends and great tables each attracting it's own challenges.
Thanks for all the congratulations messages, they mean a lot.
I would also like to thank Sean, Graeme and the team for all their hard and fantastic work over the weekend (and before!). I did apologise to Sean for not mentioning this during my speech, so apologies again.
Looking forward to next year already - although i hope this next 12 months do not go too quick as i want to savour this feeling for as long as possible!

I forgot to add in my report that I found it shocking that my son Graham & Ian M were refused to be allowed the Sunday roast at the Merton because they didn't have a table for TWO people! Do you normally have to book a table ? Keith

Post by Secretary J.B.B.L. on Nov 15, 2013 20:03:13 GMT
The Sunday lunch is required to be booked in advance and during the weekend they had a couple of big groups of parties. However, a table for two isn't to much of an ask to include.
I shall raise it with my feedback in the coming weeks, no names mentioned.
