Hi crawley how yee lookin fur 4pin this summer, got 1 maybe 2 teams ready an Willin Regs cs Some good news for you, Gandalf: All the founding member teams have shown an interest again, though two of last years venues have gone: the Mill House have moved to the Windmill Crawley and the Malt Shovel team wish to play from Ye Old Stout House. The Dun Horse A are staying put. And on speaking to the other founder members last night, a switch to Tuesday nights has been approved. So a provisional yes to a second team from the Bull, but this will be dependent on getting one more team on top of that to form a second division, as the general view is we need the season to be for no more than 6 weeks' of fixtures, to fit around Billingshurst's Jubilee Team Knockout. The fixture list when issued will have the following dates: Tues 24th June Tues 1st July Tues 8th July Tues 29th July Tues 5th August Tues 19th August Tues 26th August will be used either for a return Interleague challenge - OR - for a seventh week if a second division is formed. How this will work is on the basis of 2 divisions of 3 teams, with teams playing the others in their own division Home and Away, but those in the other division once only. Were we to get a total of 7 or 8 teams, then we can revert back to six weeks and have the Interleague match again. But I don't think that this will happen, although this time around we would be willing to include Mid Sussex as within the Crawley catchment area. Entry is free again, by the way.

Hi Gandalf, If it helps, a map of the boundary of Mid Sussex is given here: www.mid-sussexbbl.co.uk/page3.htmlThe A23 forms a boundary to the west. The Bull was/is a great venue, but as you can see, if you wanted to you could now come back slightly eastwards.

your 5 teams aren't that bad tommo Mine was a veiled reference to an Orwellian quotation: "Four legs good, two legs bad". I suppose for our Summer League, all teams are equal, but some are more equal than others !

Just to confirm exactly what we mean by "teams within the Mid Sussex boundary welcome"....... The following towns and/or villages are acceptable: Haywards Heath; Burgess Hill; Hurstpierpoint; Hassocks; Keymer. Sorry, nothing east of the B2112 - as too far for the Horsham teams.

Here's where we are at the moment..........
Season will start on Tues 24th June (same night as England v Costa Rica, but hey-ho !);
Teams entered so far: Bull A Windmill GG YO Stout House Dun Horse A Bull B
If we stay with this five, season will be 8 weeks long (no Interleague challenge) If we get more teams then we can form a 2nd Division, revert back to six weeks and have the Interleague match again.
So, if anyone is interested in forming a team (Crawley, Horsham Rural and Mid Sussex District) please let me know on here by Tuesday 10th June.
Final entries to be accepted on this date (at the Horsham AGM) whereupon the fixture list will be compiled and a set of mushrooms lent out.
Come and have a go if you think your end-of-table skills are good enough ! You only need THREE players to make up a team as on League night six frames are played, the players going round twice.

Hi tommo, yes like a Fox, we wanted to make winning this year more of a challenge so we've split the team as follows
Big bulls Colin Southouse,Phil Osborne, Peter Payne with reserves Bob Osborne and Stewart Chant
Red Bulls Chris Haynes,Gareth dell, Mike Reilly,Tony Smith and others
A very slight possibility we might be able to help another team with a player or two, or we might split again and have a Hastings team in, will advise after Sunday's Kent inter league match.
Ps what do you think of the rumour that Suffolk may change the rules for next year's open. To stop the 50/50 break!

Mind you, the lumps of cheese don't stay on the table for very long....

A change is as good as a rest Tommo but 1 won't be leaving Hastings or Lewes any time soon in 3 pin and I'm not leaving Eastbourne playing 4 pin either... unless Horsham wants to take the Bull by the horns or thrash around with a red cape during a full moon and a following windThe Big Bulls sound like something out of Hylda Baker's pickle factory ! Fixtures are accessible via one of the links at the top of this page: www.horshambarbilliards.co.uk/page5.htmlI note that on the 12th you're home to YO Stout House: Captain is Steve Hopkins. Please play no later than Wed 27th Aug. PS. I've pencilled Tues 2nd Sept into the diary in case people want a repeat Interleague challenge (at either the Dun Horse or the Stout House depending on availability)
