Champions Trophy 2003, West Indies 10th wicket partnership of over 100 to win against England, after seemingly being on the receiving end of a drubbing! Typical England.

Well, cricket has provided a few.......Headingley 1981 when England were in such a dire position that the bookies were offering 100-1 against beating the Aussies. Then Beefy Botham scores an amazing 149 and Bob Willis bowls like a man possessed, ripping through their batting order with 8 wickets to clinch it.
Devon Loch failing to win the Grand National, falling just before the line when 5 lengths ahead - something must have spooked him.
And in golf, Greg Norman blew a 6-shot lead entering the final round to lose the 1996 Masters to Nick Faldo by five strokes. There have been several other cases of 'snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory'.
Snooker too, the most famous perhaps being Steve Davis (up to then a reliable robot) missing an easy black to lose the 1985 World Championship to Dennis Taylor.

Mike Tyson v Buster Douglas
Greece winning Euro 2004
There was also a great story about speed skater Aussie Steve Badbury. In the 2002 olynpics he was told by his coach to sit back and stay out of trouble as he had no pace to match his rivals. In the quarter finals, with the top 2 to qualify, he finished third in his heat only to be promoted to 2nd after the favourite was disqualified. In the semi he was in last place, until 3 of his competitors crashed, putting him 2nd and putting him through to the final. In the final he was last 15m behind with 50m to go. All 4 of his rivals crashed on the final bend, giving bradbury the most improbable victory.

"Miracle at Medinah" - Ryder Cup 2012, Europe won the Singles 8 1/2 to 3 1/2 after they had been 10-6 down with just the Singles left. They won the Cup 14 1/2 to 13 1/2, Tiger Woods continued his sensational Ryder Cup achievements with a grand total of 1/2 a point......priceless!
Just for accuracy England were actually 500/1 to win that 1981 Ashes match, it was also (in)famous because Lillee and Marsh had a bet on it (therefore to lose), they denied it at first but in a later Autobiography one of them admitted it!

While the World Cup's still going, let's go back to 1994 and the Colombian team...... Andres Escobar was murdered by a hit squad following his own goal v USA which led to Colombia's elimination.
In typical bluff mood, Alan Hansen commenting on an Argentinian game the next day was heard to say "The defender wants shooting for that mistake". The BBC later issued an apology.
A year later, Colombia were playing England at Wembley when the goalkeeper Higuita made his famous "scorpion kick save" - the like of which had never been seen before - and very rarely since !
